Looks like Kubica didn't break his leg afterall Shame about so many safety cars out today, though last few laps were great, especially Sato tearing up the field. Excellent stuff. I also hope Heidfeld can continue these sorts of finishes, as it provides a nice break up of Ferrari and McClaren. |

How times change... now it seems to be Sauber (!!!) vs McLaren, who'd have thought that a year ago. Sauber... lol.
Yes I know the only thing left from Sauber is the name, most of it is BMW, but still sounds weird. I remember the days when Sauber was a testing range for Mercedes, and they had only that little writing on the black car which said "powered by Mercedes-Benz". Good for Hamilton, he's a cool guy. Would be cool if he could win the Championship this year already, I just dont like Alonso. And then next year Heidfeld vs Hamilton, BMW vs Mercedes. [thumbup] |

I want him to have the worst car on the grid to see how well he can deliver under a different sort of pressure, and the age comment was obviously a light hearted jibe and my own inadequacies. As to the race, for Hamilton to keep ahead and keep pulling ahead after 4 safety cars shows the true calibre of the driver. The commentators mentioned similarities to Senna and I can agree. However, to be a true successor to Senna he needs to prove himself in the rain, which is where Senna was untouchable. IMO Senna was the greatest F1 driver ever to grace the circuit. If Hamilton can get even half of that, it will still be a stunning achievement. My faith in F1 has been fully restored this season, not just for a british interest who is actually performing, but for the overtaking, skill and general excitement the season has produced thus far. |

You know nothing about Formula One, your comments are ridiculous. The lack of British pride in you is astonishing. I want him to have the worst car lol. The car has a big impact, as shown with Button when he first started. It does however take an extremely good driver to get on the podium in his first six races, then actually win on the sixth attempt. This is totally unheard of in Formula One. I do not think it will be repeated either any time soon. If you took the time and trouble ( which you won't ) to research how and why Hamilton is producing the goods in such an exceptional way, you would understand why he is getting heaps of praise. Tell me, when was the last time a rookie stepped into the fastest car in the field? Gakoex is just making a valid comment. Stick Lewis in a Honda, Williams, BMW, Red Bull, Toyota etc. and we can enjoy him fighting for track position in a car that's a little more of a handful. It was during 2005 that I enjoyed MS's driving the most, you could see that his car was ordinary and he was fighting it like a champ! |

There's no denying that the McClaren is a very fast car. Because of this Hamilton has been given a fantastic opportunity to shine. But an opportunity alone is not enough, you need the skills to back it up, and he has clearly proven that he is one talented driver. The only thing he is lacking at the moment is experience, but he is so talented that it seems that it won't get in the way!
If he started off in a lame car, of course he wouldn't be in a position to win the championship. But I reckon that in that situation he would have a lesser team mate to show up, and probably would have qualified and finished several places in front of his team mate. In reality his team mate is Alonso, a 2 time World champion. You can't compare drivers in different cars easily in F1, which is unfortunate. But you can compare them to their teammate. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Hamilton is on par, if not better than, Alonso at the moment. Edit: Oh btw, I hear ya Gakoex. I'm 22 too pretty depresing to see what can be achieved at this age! The guy's worked hard and deserves all the credit for what he has achieved so far. |

Considering that he met Ron Dennis when he was 12!! And was since being supported by him and Mercedes it is also a matter of being at the right place at the right time.... |

Lack of British pride? I couldn't give a toss if he's British or not; I've never met him, I'm not likely to meet him and I'm judging him purely on what I’ve seen rather than some partisan nationalist prick. The fact is the Mclaren's were able to get the power on even before the apex in some corners, they have a ridiculous advantage and Canada has many turns that are dependent on getting a good exit for the long straights. It is car dependent to a large extent but obviously Hamilton is a huge talent also. The worst car comment was an attempt to get rid of some of this ridiculous hyperbole surrounding him, some people really should read posts more carefully before attempting to lay into me with a laughable argument at every chance (he) gets. Of course I know all about Hamilton, it's not hard [rofl]; ITV have single handily managed to spend every broadcast second on his entire life. I even know what he had for tea after the race. There’s no mystique or allure left. Oh yeah, and greatest-driver-ever-Villenueve would've won the first race like ck said sans a mechanical problem which forced him to back off. |

Damaged undertray from being reckless. He did a piss poor job this weekend but every driver has an off day. He had the potential to be just as fast as Hamilton (as shown by his fastest first and second sectors duting quali) but royally screwed up the last turn. It's these little pivotal moments which can change the entire weekend. I don't think albers would make it into the top 5 once in a mclaren. |

Perhaps, but then again alonso i isn't a bad driver. Don't get me wrong, I think he'd spin out, but he could potentially be up there. |

I see personal insults are how you work. I am sick and tired that every time a new driver comes along in a good car people like you say he has no skill and its all the car. Michael had the best car for years you gonna take that away from him me course not. As to villi would have won the first race dont make absolute statements that only have personal opinion not facts it is something we cannot know. Accept the talent the kid has. Monaco is a true test of talent no matter the car and if already passed that test. Lol i bet if he did win the championship you would still say it was the car. Your opinions show your lack of knowledge of f1. I have been watching for 25 years and i tell ya now this kid is the most exciting talent since senna came on the scene. If he was doing well and a rubbish car people like you would say if he had the car he would be winning and if he has the car he is winning because of it lol. He is driving better than the world champion in the same car for gods sake. Your views are uneducated and lack substance.
