Default Google Street View
Anyone seen this?

http://maps.google.com/maps?tab=wl

Theres only a few cities to use at the moment, but its scary what you can do. Zooming in on people, cars and buildings etc and then "walking" along the road in the photograph, and spinning around etc

Just click "Street View" on the map (Link above) and zoom in on one of the blue roads.

I'm sure you dont need instructions though

Pretty impressive, just need to expand that kind of thing to the rest of the world. Going to take a hell of a long time to get all the data. Even if they only limited it to Capitals over here in the EU

Yea, they normally start with a few US cities and then slowly work over other major cities world wide. Bit like what they did with Google Earth.

Yeah, it's the first time I've been amazed by technology in a long time. I was looking at times square, a scene I've seen a million times, but this time I could go "hmm, I wonder what's down this street" and just go and have a look. Amazing.

Imagine, you're going on holiday to NY, you can check out the street your hotel is on, the area around it, where the shops are, the whole lot. Great stuff. [thumbup]

Yeah, that made me want to take another stroll around las vegas. I spent ages looking for that road where all the casinos are, but couldn't. I suck.

Anyhoo, this rubbish work pc doesn't have flash, so I'll have to wait till I get home.

Are you maybe looking at your regional google maps (google finland?) rather than the google.com one?

Your zoomed in too far? I tried zooming in on Texas and then found the 'View Street' button went away. Zoom out and then click the 'View Street' button and it will show you several icons depicting a camera. Click on and then it allows you to place a human figure onto the blue streets thus enabling a street view

That is crazy awesome!!!

I wonder how much crazy data space this is currently taking up. I wouldn't mind to get paid to drive around and do that.

Wow, they actually go far enough south in the bay area that I could find my street! [thumbup]

It really is impressive how much they have covered so far. [yes] Not to mention how incredibly cool of a feature it is.
