Default Can someone explain Dell warranties to me (UK)?
I am looking at getting a laptop for someone (going to be used for business use), but from looking at the Dell site (under small business). The base cover on the laptops (called CAR) is only 90 days. You need to pay more money to extend it to a year.

Now it was my understanding that you had to by law give a 1 year warranty on all products like laptops in the UK?

In the UK there is a statutory law stating all electrical goods have a 1 year warranty from date of purchase regardless of what the seller says in the way of additional warranties. However its very basic in that they just repair goods that are faulty through manufacturing not from an accidental cause. The warranty Dell is selling probably covers accidental and has some form of tech support too. The two warranties run in parrallel with each other.

30 day Training on keeping your system secure from viruses and online intruders. Who the hell in their right mind would sign up for that? I'd rather cut off my balls, lick them and then offer them to a lion dangling from my ears.
