I just watched it that is so funny but you would feel like killing yourself after that. Similar thing happened in a recentish game that my friend taped the guy was skating down on an empty net was about 2m from the net then the puck hit something on the ice flipped up and went straight past the net.
Oh and I got 4 goals and 2 assists in my game on Sunday WOOT! lol. Very nice C0L0N3L! [thumbup] Oh, and your empty net story reminded me of this insane play earlier this season in the NHL. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDbEX666G3Y lmao..that was so awsome! Go Oilers! ![]() |

Anyone watch the RUS-FIN match yesterday? It was the most amazing hockey match I have seen in quite a while. Even the first two periods, where the russians were whopping us good were really enjoyable - their team showed an amazing level of skill. This, combined with obvious mistakes from the finnish team made up a few very very nice goals
![]() Then in the final period, Finland finally came back into the match, almost making it before finally losing 5-4 - which is very nice, considering that the situation was 4-1 in the beginning of the period. |

My local TV station only shows the Canada games until the medal matches start being played, then they show them all I beleieve. So I wasn't able to catch the Fin-Rus game. I heard it was a good one though. ![]() |

Hockey usually ends at the playoffs for me...For you see, I am a Leafs fan I wouldn't be supprised to see you guys in the playoffs next season. You almost made it this one even. A new GM would go a long way IMO. JFJ made some really questionable moves over the past year or two and didn't bring in any real help at the trade deadline. :/ Hrm looks like we won't be playing Canada until the final rounds, so I'll have to wait until then to watch us utterly crush you ![]() ![]() |

Very close, true. I hated to see it ride on a match between two other teams. New Jersey played a poor game against the Islanders because they didn't care, a fact made obvious by using their second tier goalie [thumbdown] They only picked up the heat in the last 10 minutes or so and managed to tie it, just enough to bring up all the hopes of Leaf fans only to lose it in OT.

Do we have any hockey fans around? I probably should have started this thread back before the first round of the NHL playoffs, but does anyone want to post some predictions once the second round match-ups are set? Just for fun.
![]() Sadly, my favorite team (Edmonton Oilers) really sucked this year and didn't make the playoffs. But I still love to watch all the games! And just to get you in the mood, I give you the greatest dancer of all time: ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXvyxKrkpgM |

did he got bodychecked and never recovered?! lmao
![]() Well, once the match-ups are set, I'll post all the info needed in here and then anyone can make their picks. Don't feel obligated to join in though...it's just for fun. I just wanted to see if there were any hockey fans around these parts (even fans of other hockey leagues around the world). hehe |

umm.. Davie Upton is pretty good so are quite a few but i doubt NHL material.
The thing is when they are in Australia they are way ahead of every one but then they go over to America or Canada to play college they say they are about average. But there is one kid Nathan Walker he is about 13 or so now but he was playing in Bantams nationals when he was a Atom and I think he got some points too. |

Cool, I'll try to keep that name in mind. He's still a few years away, but you never know where good players will come from.
There's been some stand-outs from non-traditional hockey markets recently in Thomas Vanek from Austria and Anze Kopitar from Slovenia. On a lesser level, a kid from Norway named Patrick Thoresen made the Edmonton Oilers out of camp with some impressive play. He won't be as good as the other two, but it's nice to see some quality talent coming out of these different countries. So you never know! ![]() Oh, and Yutaka ***ufuji from Japan made his NHL debut this season as well. Edit: lol...the filter won't let my type out Yutaka's last name. |

The second round match-ups are now set. If you don't know, a series is a best of 7 (4wins and you move on). Click the icons for each teams playoff stats so far or hit NHL.com for even more info.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Round one results: Detroit Redwings beat the Calgary Flames 4-2 Anaheim Ducks beat the Minnesota Wild 4-1 Vancouver Canucks beat the Dallas Stars 4-3 San Jose beat the Nashville Preditors 4-1 Buffalo Sabres beat the New York Islanders 4-1 New Jersey Devils beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2 New York Rangers beat the Atlanta Thrasher 4-0 Ottawa Senators beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 Regular Season Standings. Think that should be enough info to get some simple series predictions. My picks for the second round: Ducks win the series 4-2 Sharks win the series 4-3 Senators win the series 4-1 Sabres win the series 4-2 Good luck guys! (if anyone joins in. hehe) ![]() Litte update: The second round begins Wed Apr 25, 2007. |
