And I felt a knot in my throat at the end of "Ice Age" when the Baby is lookin' over his father's shoulder and secretly plays peek-a-boo one last time with Diego.

I find a lot of Mayazaki films can make a lump appear in my throat. Like when Ashitaka has to leave his village and his sister gets upset (Princess Mononoke). And also in Porco Rosso when he tells the story of when all his comrades die and they all ascend into that massive ring of planes but he gets sent back to earth.

Don't think I've ever cried from a film since I was real little, but the climax in Last of the Mohicans got me close. Not because it was especially sad (well, it was quite), but just the music and imagery and everything just made it the most powerful cinematic moment I've ever watched.

I found the end of cast away sad as well. I thought it was sad that he was apologizing to all his frriens for what happened after everything he had been through. I also found it sad he had to let his girl go.

At the end when he died in "this" world, I guess you could cheer up that he did meet his family in the end, but since you may or may not believe that last scene when I guess he goes to heaven, then the rest is up to your imagination.
