the police up here are Idiots

when your setting a speed trap you are supposed to have the police vehicle in full view of the traffic but these nobheads hide the car down a lane that bisects the main road and they stand on the other side of the road where theres a bus stop so if your unfortunate enough you wont see them untill its too late also one copper is sitting in his car and the others by the bus stop now they cannot do that because they need to co-oberate in order to "do you" and you cant co-oberate if one copper has'nt seen the vehicle in question speeding.

So if they do try and do you for speeding you can have em for it the stupid aerosols

You were texting as he was talking to you? That little tid bit kind of speaks of your attitude at the time IMO.
lol what a show of disrespect.
I'd surely would have give a ticket now instead a warning. I know I feel like hitler sometimes.

lol yer

but still they need to be trained properly and whats really odd is that they only seem to pull you if you have a car that looks nice and funnily enough these nice car drivers are military personel who only break the limit by the tollerence set down.

my mate this weekend got slapped with a fine and 3 points for being 5 mph over the limit of 60 mph and He swore blind he was on the limit.

well aparently he doesnt have to because when he recieves his ticket hes gonna send it back to the magistrates unsigned and aparently if you do that they throw it out of court.. aparently but sometimes the police will turn up at your door and make you sign it if they are really going for blood.

but ive never been done for speeding so I never really want to find out if its true

Wait, you were texting while this was going on? He probably thought you were reaching for a weapon, getting rid of drugs, or some other shady act until he was close enough to see it was a cell phone; then he realized you were just a jackass. Seriously, what’s the deal with being attached to the cell phone 1,000,000% of the time?!

When you add that to getting out of the vehicle and then questioning why you had to get back into it, I could see where his straight to the point attitude and whole nine yards came from.

Also, about the spot light and everything else, he probably didn’t want to get Fing shot or something that night so he was using everything he had to make the situation as safe for HIM as possible.

I don't even know why I am going to explain this, but I feel compelled to do so.

*Deep breath*

The reason he had to pull you over was legitimate, you did have a broken tail light and regardless if the scrapyard was closed you could of just as easily went to walmart and bought some tape to put over it until you got it fixed.
The reason he told you not to text anymore is simple, he does not know who you are talking to and what about and therefore can not determine weather you are plotting against him (IE calling friends)
The reason for the spot light is to make sure that he can see all your movements, because to a police officer the most deadly thing is a persons hands, if you can monitor their hands then you have the best chance of going home that night.
The reason for his to ask you about drinking is because well it's late, on the weekend, and you said yourself you were going down a road that nobody travels down. It would seem like, depending on the crime in the area in which you live to be somewhat suspicious. There could have been a B&E within the last 24 hours and they are looking for a particular person or something along those lines that could end up being the criminal caught red handed.
The officer did have a legitimate reason to stop you, and like someone else already said, most stops for minor things end up getting drugs. Now it's not as if he was just sitting there waiting for you after you walked out of the bar, he was simply doing his job in a PROACTIVE fashion which requires using small time infractions to catch big time criminals.
Most people wouldn't have a problem if they knew that they are always looking for narcotics and if they knew how much they get by those kind of stops then they wouldn't complain.

Yeah, you know compared to murderers and rapists, someone with a few grams of weed is a huuuge threat.

Anyway I was almost sure they had to give you ten-fifteen days to get such things fixed here in PA? Or maybe that's just what they do when they don't overreact and make jack#### of themselves.

This is far from over, I am going to the city hall on Monday and speaking with the chief, and perhaps even speak to a lawyer.
Sovereign immunity. The police were exercising their discretion. You can't get a dime from them. A lawyer, even if he is successful in getting you out of the ticket, would cost far more than the ticket itself.

You can always represent yourself and try to have the ticket waived. I've seen people do it, although your behavior with the chicken little cop equals almost a guaranteed loss. Arguing a ticket usually involves police missing appearances, the case being postponed, you sitting on a courtroom bench for two hours (not to mention time and money spent traveling to the courthouse, parking, going through security, etc.), surrounded by lice-ridden peasants waiting to support their baby daddy as he walks out from the holding cell in shackles for his arraignment, etc. Not worth it, unless your time is only as valuable as that of a migrant tomato picker.

I am not attached to the cell phone, but I did have people depending on me being at a certain place at a certain time. I also did not want people inside of my house to start freaking out... so I was texting.

I don't even know why I am going to explain this, but I feel compelled to do so.

I understand where you are coming from, but if the guy was not a total douche from the start it would be different. I was OUT OF MY CAR when he finally got there. I did not realize it was the cop till the lights and sirens came on when he pulled in front of me. I thought it was some ******* driving way too fast down down a road like that. So after already being out of my car... why couldn't he just get out and still even have the light on me, and tell me about my tail light? Why did he make me get back into the car, even though I was out before his arrival? That just stinks of ********. After I explained the light situation, and he new my address, why would have have to go right into drinking and stuff though?

Spin it all you want, and I can appreciate where you are coming from, but no ****ing tail lights needs two cops on the scene. I live in a small town, they were the only two ON DUTY LAST NIGHT! AT 2AM! So throughout the rest of the town, there could have been drunks lining the streets. They were wasting time with me though. This was nothing more than bored local cops, hoping to score big.

How do you defend him saying he was giving out tickets because people were giving him **** that night? He was out to nail people, for his own satisfaction.

What make model was the Saturn and how many miles were on it?
1995 SW2, DOHC engine. I am having a pain the ass time finding one, for a reasonable price. If you know of one... [thumbup] .

As of today, I really, really think I hate police.
Really good Lord! Abuse of power my ass you were driving with a broken tail light. It's no excuse that the shop is closed you shouldn't have been driving. It's always amusing listening to people from America talking about this sort of thing you know? People who harp on about free speech or police abuse of power while taking these concepts for granted. God knows what would happen if you lived in a third world country where the police really are corrupt and can do what they like, throw you in a cell and let you rot there for no reason, immune from any recourse like "going to City Hall".

You are being quite pathetic really having a go at a policeman for following routine and protocol, like asking you to return to the car (a safety issue) and breathalysing you. Then as others pointed out a jerk for texting while the the officer is addressing you. If you don't treat others with the respect they deserve don't be surprised if you don't get shown much respect in return. God Bless the entitlement culture!

Far from abuse IMO, try driving at midnight and have a bunch of police stop your car and ask you for a few bucks, because they are going to have a tea break.

well, only happen in Malaysia

Sorry you are right I didn't read the bit where you said you also broke one of your nails. God that must have been awful for you it'll take ages to get your hands that beautiful again. Like I said entitlement culture "when I break the law I shouldn't be treated like a law breaker".

Get over it, your bruised ego will heal in the end. So maybe the guy was a bit heavy handed calling for back up but it's not like he threw you in a cell and sodomised you with his nightstick for God's sake.
