300 kicked all kinds of ass. I've been dying to go back and see it since the moment I walked out of the theater.

300 was possibly the worst film I've seen in years. Horrible dialoge, overacting to the extreme and a plot as thick as a sheet of paper. On top of that, Miller's thinly-veiled political rant took over the plotline and spoiled the entire film.

Even Gladiator was better than this film. I want my $10 back. [thumbdown]

Plot was indeed very weak, and the graphics indeed amazing. In terms of plot writing it is oversimplified to the extreme and feels rushed.

Nevertheless, I do some CGI and I gotta respect some of the fight scenes. They could have done more with the elephants and the rhino, but I sense that the animation would have been much too much work.

Historically accurate? Not so much. Note though that I did not expect a strong plot and came just for the action scenes so...

Interesting? Yes. Should you go see it? Depends on what you expect. Is it better then The Departed and LOTR? Stupid question, of course not.

Wait, I think I detected sarcasm there, just at the end. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

If anyone goes to watch 300 expecting a historically accurate account of the battle of Thermopylae, or indeed something that rivals Gladiator as a historical epic, then you need to be stabbed in the eye with my pencil.

It's pure testerone fuelled macho action with nudity, blood, gore, decapitations, OTT acting, a predictable storyline and lots of shouting.

Great stuff! [thumbup] Action films as they should be.

Idiots like Bruckheimer and Bay have a lot to answer for with what happened to action films in the 90s.

Note: All my opinion. Eye stabbing not guaranteed.

I read the worst review of 300 yesterday in The Daily Mail. The reviewer took exceptions to the fact that

a) The men in the film only wear cape, helmet and pants when fighting, not full body armour "like we know they did".....uhmm. No, Spartans wore as little as possible when fighting. I think he watched too much Spartacus when growing up. No doubt he also thinks that cavemen wore leopard skin pants as he saw it on The Flintstones

b) Spartan children were only taught "fighting, fighting, fighting". Which was true, at age seven all Spartan men entered military academy to train. Some died before reaching adulthood it was so brutal. Again, read a book.

c) Spartans were shown as baby killers as they left the sick and deformed children to die. Which was....true!

d) The men have bigger breasts than the women. Hmmm, not sure what he means here, I'd say the men had bigger pectoral muscles than the women in the film, however I know what I would rather play with.

I stopped reading after that, there was still half an article to go but I was getting so angry! That, and my take-away was ready so I had to leave the Chinese anyway.

I know the Daily Mail is the largest toilet paper available in the UK, but even I was amazed at the ignorance of the writer.
