Who needs it when you've got a Pug [thumbup]

that's very debatable. A good modern rear projection DLP television has much better black levels and greater response times than an lcd.
Agreed. I just love my DLP TV; the blacks are REALLY black, and the whites can be blinding. Its just great.

Besides, given that i got my 42" Sammy for 800 new... i would like to see an equal quality LCD of that size for that price... [rofl]

The only real downside is you'll have to switch the lamp every 2~3 years which will cost ya quite alot (especially considering it's 1080p)

Looks like a stunning telly tho! Make sure to take pics when u got it! [thumbup]

Also, u do have Sky HD right? Else the 1080p would be kind of a waste http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/unsure1.gif

Sky won't be 1080p anyway, only 1080i, so it doesn't matter, it's more for my PS3 that's on pre-order now with Play and the Toshiba if I can find one... I'm more a VD person than TV... Unless UKGold suddenly start broadcasting...in HDTV lol

Ah I see http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/blush1.gif

Well at least you're not the only one waiting for the PS3 to come out! [thumbup]

Projector? pffft.

Nice enjoy Pug. Don't forget to grab a few HD movies while you're at it.
Projector has superior image quality compared to projection TV. So why not??

Because of the hassle of running several long lengths of video and power to the thing; not to mention having to mount it on the roof.

Lillie_Steins 01-21-2007 01:47 PM

WOW..70'' [shocked]

Correct, hence the reason I went for this one. I've seen Plasma After Plasma and they disappoint me... don't know what it is, just don't look as natural as a RP... I'd never buy a LCD or Plasma, but that's my opinion so, everyone to their own.

But did you pay attention to the res, 16:9 and 1920x1080, thats not going to be a terribly sharp picture especially for projected source....
No surround sound either [cursing] no flicker free [cursing] no headphone sockets [cursing]

are you kidding? 1080p(1920x1080 progressive) is the absolute highest resolution possible on hdtvs. It is certainly going to be a wonderfully sharp picture.

So he can watch TV and movies during the day.

Projectors have a place, but mostly in a dedicated movie-viewing room where ambient light isn't a concern.

Yep should have a beautiful picture! 1080p looks amazing on big screens but just wait till we start seeing Quad HD in the next few years.[yes] 3840 x 2160 is going to look stunning. That is if anything can actually take advantage of it. lol

I guess i'll hop on board the HD band waggon when a 50 inch 1080p LCD gets closer to the $1000 mark. Come on Samsung, Sharp, or Sony! SSS

I guess you haven't seen any modern projectors then...
You can use them with lighs on without a problem...

I got an absolutely mind boggling deal on my 37" 1080p, $799 on a one day sale at a local shop near me. The cheapest I could find online after looking for weeks was $1300 so i got quite the deal [thumbup]

Enrivaanonock 01-21-2007 08:35 PM

Man that a nice telly christ makes my 44" DLP downstairs look like a portable lol.
