Default Interesting Simpsons episode in may: 24 minutes
2007 May 20 (according to wikipedia): 24 minutes

It will most likely run in real time, and Sutherland (Jack) + Rajskub (Chloe) appear on the credits for the episode on imdb! [thumbup]

This could potentially be hilarious, despite Simpsons being generally crap over the past decade.

Potentially, yes it could be good. But I won't hold out much hope.

I'd imagine the episode is more an attempt to gain cheap advertising for the Simpsons movie later in the year by parodying another popular Fox show. They are trying to attract fans of other popular TV shows since it seems no one thinks much of The Simpsons anymore. Also look out for "Ned's Anatomy", "Home(r)" and "Desperate Househusbands".

[offtopic] Who did the spell checker on Firefox, Jessica Simpson? Apparently 'movie' isn't a word.

I've given up on the Simpsons, I started watching the episode this Sunday on Sky with Kiefer Sutherland in but turned it off a few minutes in. It's more like watching Tom and Jerry or Roadrunner now, they've ruined it [thumbdown]

They've done real time before, "22 Short Films about Springfield". One of my faves.

Hey man, Tom & Jerry is still one of the best cartoons around. Its a timeless classic.

Well, I guess it reasons it in the way that "movie" is a shortened slang word derived from "moving picture", thus it would be more proper to write moving picture instead of movie

Heh, perhaps Firefox wants us all to start talking in 1920s speak.

Even Firefox isn't recognised by its own spell checker.

Well it seems the English (American) version of the Firefox dictionary has better support than the English (British) version.

Though I could never use a dictionary that spelt colour without a 'u'.

My version of Firefox recognises both "movie" and "Firefox" (although you have to capitalise the first letter of Firefox).

However it doesn't recognise "moustache", "recognises" or "capitalise". Probably because they aren't US spellings.

Simpsons are still great........all you older peep who grew up with it.....along with me...

Have found that it's "boring" these days because they are not as nasty, sharp,or stupid..

I've got the first 5 seasons on dvd.....but the last five have been just as good(just different).

Ill take your place in line when the movie comes......don't worry....[rofl]

The show was always family oriented......the shows you all compare it to...are just gross outs for adults with super sharp stories.......as in Mel Gibson.Cruise or many other on South Park...

But they DO NOT compete with each other.

Family Guy was Fox's South Park.........Futurama was a combo.....and American Dad is a clone of FG.

Quit bashing Simpsons cause everyone else does.......jeesh....

seasons 3-9 were the best, then they started dumbing it down.

So true, Season 10 is when Mike Scully took over as showrunner. After the 200th Episode Matt Groening also left to start up Futurama. The show started to go downhill after those two events.

Season 9 will be the last Simpsons DVD boxset I will purchase. Good thing really, will save me lots of cash!

Futurama had the quality that the Simpsons really lacked; i still hate Fox for killing it..

Isn't it coming back? There's a film coming out but I'm sure I read somewhere a network had commissioned some new shows for 2007. Or are they just optimistic rumours?

I may be behind; i hadn't heard of any confirmed news about the rebirth (though i had heard of both the series and movies). I welcome any information people may have; if its true.. i would love you for all time..

yes its coming back as a new season i believe

ToyFare: So where are you right now in the production of the new season?

DAVID X. COHEN: We're about halfway through the writing, but just getting started on the animation. One big decision we have not yet made is how, once again, to "end" the series - hopefully not for the last time. taken from www.gotfuturama.com

Oh man.. now my hopes are really up! Thanks for the info and link.

Perhaps the major success of bringing Family Guy back spurred on the resurrection of Futurama? Either way, i don't care, as long as it true comes back (With the original characters and humor it had of course..

Though i wonder - with the ending from the last episode.. i wonder where they will take the series. I mean, Fry always trying to win over Leela was quite funny and interesting. It will be interesting to see where it goes..
