You'd be better off trying to get the loan yourself. Let a bank handle it, the worst that can happen there... they sue you. I think that seems better. |

to start with my parents are not well off by any stretch of the imagination, my dad had to quit work through illness had bowel cancer and my mother does not earn that much
the only reason they have the money is the sale of of grandma's house which my dad owned and they have only agreed to lend me it, if i set a direct debit to automatically pay back the money each month which is fine by me as its still is cheaper than a bank loan |

Well I have to admit, I did suspect it would be another Seat. I guess the only problem you have with Seat's is that they're not as common as VW's or Audi's which will make it more difficult to find the good example you're after, but at least they're more different compared to other common cars - something I like. It's amazing how much car you actually get for your money too, and they tend to be bargains at second hand. |

I agree with everyone else. The only thing worse than being indebt to a bank is being in debt to a relative/friend/loved one. When they need you to do something they can just lay a guilt trip on you. So in essence not only do you have to pay the money back but you have to become a personal slave to guilt for however long it takes you to pay it back. I would rather just fork over the 5-6% interest. That, and having a loan from a bank that you are paying on time is a great way to build credit which you'll need if you want to buy a house or other cars in the future.

I saw it coming miles away. However they're still very good cars with the engineering put into them. [yes] I'd love either a VW, Audi or possibly a Seat myself. seen a 53 plate one in leeds for 7k, so will mention it at home as with a local seat garage the warrenty should transfer which i think is what my parents are bothered about |

Whats with all this loan talk? I would rather get it from family then a bank. Much lower interest if any, and you cant ruin your credit. Plus with family, they can be much more flexible then a bank can EVER be. Plus a bank always finds ways to nickel and dime your sorry a$$.
I borrow money from my parents whenever I need it. Its never large amounts, but when I dont have the cash, I ask my mom. But I at least know that I can pay her back. She never holds anything against me. I actually surprise the hell out of her when I do pay her back. My sister has been in debt with my mom for various things for like 5 years now and my mom doesn't do any of the **** that you guys are talking about. Plus you cant use a loan against people as long as they pay up. "What about that loan I gave you?" then in reply "I am paying you back regularly arnt I? So stfu!!!" Now if you are neglect to pay, I can see why they would hold it over your head. Though for me personally, for some reason I have been eying the Buick Regal GS Supercharged myself. Cheap to find for a fairly new and low mileage vehicle. One of the most reliable motors around that is supercharged. A good looking grannies car that is cumfy as hell that just so happens to go 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds. First thing that I would do to one is hook up an intercooler, and get a boost controller. Really get the psi going through that motor to give me that extra juice!! Though if you arnt looking for speed as much as economy, I would get a Golf TDI. Cant beat 45mpg, super flexible on the fuel used, and if you drop by restaurants getting used oil/grease you get your petrol for free!! Plus with a boost controller in one of these, I think that the stock turbo can take you from 90/100hp all the way up to 150hp while still giving you some 30mpg. |
