Default Lenny returns from MONSTER Aussie holiday... meets onions on the way (56k warning)
Well I'm back!

I've just spent 3 weeks away and I thought I'd share with you some pictures of my journey and tell you a bit about what happened...

Well first off I started to drive from Adelaide to the Gold Coast which is 2100km drive, that's a huge trip by car so I didn't do it in one day and so on day one I stayed at a town called parks... now, some of you might know if you've watched the movie "The Dish", the parks radio telescope was the dish that received the first pictures from the moon on the apollo 11 trip! Then relayed to everyone else in the world.

So here is a picture of the parks radio telescope.

Well after another day and then a following morning of driving I finally made it to the Gold Coast and Met fellow onion Troy, alias Droy333.

Well I was staying at his place for the next 5 days from the 30th till the 4th... so we had some fun times. Went to Warner Brothers Movie World, celebrated new years (sort of) and stuff like that. Well both made me feel welcome and hope to see them again one day. Oh and Baby Hallie! Isn't she just the dearest little thing! [yes]

Troy and Tara

Hallie havnig a yawn in the car

Me and Tory bought tripods and troy also got a new camera, so we went and took some night pictures of the Gold Coast

Panorama on the beach

Well the next stop was Sydney 800km south of the Gold Coast. Well on my first day there I met up with fellow Sydney onion Mat, AKA Cubase. Also a couple of his friends and girlfriend. Well what can I say... Mat is a champ! Went out for lunch, showed me all around Sydney, went and saw a 3D imax film on the worlds biggest imax screen and then we partied into the night with a few more of his friends with dinner and then into a club. Oh he even stayed sober enough to drive me back to my hotel, while the rest of us drank away! Cheers for that Mat! Another onion I'd be glad to call a friend!

If you don't know what this is, then you must have failed geography. :P

There is no spoon... (Cubase "the one")

Chinese gardens with the Sydney skyline in the background

This couple just happened to walk in front of my shot... seriously.

My hotel room... not bad for $99 AU a night during school holidays. Except the suburb is a little dodgy... [surrender]

Sydney skyline (panorama)

This old data tape is like 12 inches in diameter... holds 2.5Mbit... 312KB. (powerhouse museum Sydney)

Sydney Aquarium

Jelly fiish

Well after Sydney I went to Melbourne to visit family and stuff, however I've been there and posted about Melbourne on FM before... so I'll stop here.

I have tonnes of pictures So, there are some others I guess I could post... but that will do for now.

Great shots, must been have a stellar trip. Seeing those night photos makes me want to get a tripod for such clear shots. Hand held ones are impossible [thumbup]

Not wrong. Even using a tripod in the wind as you can see if pretty hard.

Very nice shots!! Seems like you had a hell of a lot of fun!!! I just got back from my 1 month vacation from a Cruise and going to California. Gotta get my california pics up on the net, but I got a few cruise photos over in the digital art section.

How many photos you got? I ended up getting about 800 photos on just the cruise a lone. Was limited to storage space too. [cursing] I wanted to do the best 6mp quality, but I had to settle for medium quality to make sure that I would have enough room for all the pictures that I was going to take.

Only got like 250 in California as I was mostly working on my 240z the whole time.

Thanks for sharing, Lenny! That was quite interesting to see a part of the world I may never get to witness. And then to see some Onions as their offline alter-egos? Priceless. [xmasthumbup]

Nice pics Len! Looks like you had a rad time!

I like some of those gold coast pics. But my favorite is definitely the one of the guy slipping a digit with his partner.

Yeah well it's really interesting to meet people. Troy was... as I expected, just Troy, the guy I chat to and get along with. Was a little sad when I left their place, I guess got a little attached to their little family.

Cubase, I did not know what to expect with him, as I didn't even know his name or what he really did. But he's one really cool bloke! So if anyone passes through Sydney then go see Cubase as he's the only Sydney onion that's active.

The KFC in your second shot of Surfers there (it looks like surfers) has a serious roach problem.
The Chinese gardens in Sydney by contrast are some of the most beautiful I've seen.

You been to surfers? Well it is KFC on Surfers... never ate there so.

The Chinese gardens were pretty nice.

The trip gave me a really good idea about the Australian drought. It really is bad as you go south. The Gold Coast and Sydney still appeared green. but as soon as I hit the Hume Highway to go to Melbourne it was dead... it was shocking, not a blade of green grass.
