I spent a month late last year (part of a bigger trip) on the east coast. Hit Brisbane, Noosa, Surfers, Coolangatta and Sydney. Gotta say mate, you live in one hell of a nice part of the world
Also gotta say I wasn't totally in love with Surfers (terrible surf for one thing), but it was party time town for your rugby league finals so fair D Go Broncos [thumbup] Out of the places I saw, Cooly and Tweed I probably enjoyed the most. Surfed all day, swam with dolphins and drank VB all night. Awesome [thumbup]
As for the drought, you were having some pretty bad fires when we were there, be about Octoberish?

Sydney Opera House

The building that the chopper crashed into in... The Matrix

On the Pacific Highway between Gold Coast and Sydney (beautiful drive)

Pacific Highway... Sugar cain fields, and a sugar cain factory shooting out steam in the distance, I drove right past it, looked cool up close. Didn't have my camera ready for a pic

Lenny!

Glad you enjoyed the trip mate! It was a pleasure having you in Sydney... and thanks for all the nice comments... good to finally see the photos.

Remeber that coke beer mate? I've had a few more since then, I'm hooked. For everyone, when he was over we went with a bunch of my mates to the Lowenbrau pub and Lenny tried his hand at Mango beer and I had a coca-cola beer... weird yet refreshing!

As for the rest of you onions, if you are swining by Sydney just let me know, I love doing the whole tourism thing. There's no gurantee you will get the same Kodak moments Rob did (aka, gropage) but it's always a blast.

What other places did you end up visiting while you were here?

I ended up in bad form the day after I met you. I had a killer migrane headache and so I practically sayed in the hotel all day long sleeping. I did go out around 4pm that day and drove down the M2 towards the northen suburbs to have a gander and took a few turns and somehow eneded up next to the bridge on the north end.lol. So I ended up taking some of those pictures you see of the operahouse and bridge ( I decided to drive over it after I was standing next to it). I love how the the little apartments and homes are so close to the bridge, it's just so nice there. So I ended up having a Pizza there.

Then the next day I went up centre point tower, and it was a bad day sice it was really hazy. The Oz-trek ride thing that comes with your admission is cheesy. Then went to the muesium of contemporary art. The video art section there is cool, I stood there ages looking at this video where these japanese girls were in a clubs bathroom/toilet sort of doing themselves up, only they would walk out with their panties down and **** like that... it was odd, I was trying to figure out if it was just the way girls act there or if they were strippers or hookers. I couldn't figure it out, but after like 15 minutes I thought I better move on otherwise people would think I was there just to perv all day, lol.

Went to the observitory, that was ok...

After that I took my city loop ticket and just rode the train to different stops, then used the net... then went back to my hotel.

Then on my last day...

I went to the the powerhouse muesium and spend a good 5 hours there! Holly crap there is so much to see! I never thought it would take me that long to get through it all, so it took a good chunk of my day. From there I went on the monorail ($9.50 all day pass, $4.50 for one way stop) and stopped at darling harbour to go to the aquarium. After that I had to call it a day, go to the hotel, pack, watch the 20/20 cricket and then the next day off to Melbourne!

sounds good! You pakced quite a bit in... about as much I have and I've lived here for almost 22 years!

Re: That Japanese video. I have not seen it, but I think the Japanese are crazy... and hella fun! I eventually want to move there... who knows.

It's a shame you could not be here earlier forthe NYE fireworks... they were pretty awesome... here's a few pics from the NYE sydney fireworks:

The diamond signifies the bridge's 75th anniversary. And the coathanger signifies the bridge itself (becuase of its shape, Sydney residents like to refer to it as 'The Coathanger')

And here are a few from previous years:

So if you are thinking of coming back to town join us for a NYE! As Little_Lenny will testify, us Aussies can put on a show!

Hey why didn't you come see me and Softstuff? Currently residing in Beerwah, home of the aussie zoo, but soon to move to Noosa, just a little further North. According to Sunrise on 10, Australia's favourite holiday destination.

Well you didn't reply to my thread a while back for all Aussie onions near the area to meet up with me. [rolleyes]

But I would not have gone that far north... the most I would have gone is Brisbane.

I didn't actually. I was going to go but the last couple of days I was there the weather wasn't so nice and so I decided not to go up.

Oh and Interesting to not you live right near the theme parks. When was the last time you went to Movie World? The new Superman ride kicks ass... 0-100km/h in 2 seconds (except you need to pay for a lock box to store your crap for that ride! While the other rides where you can't have anything on you will do it for free). Batman 2 ride is a good rush (4.5G). Lethal Weapon was really fun.

last time i went was for highschool graduation in one of the sets (i think they used to make "the price is right" there or something)

but, last time i went for the rides (only ever been once :P) was when i was in grade 5 or so... basically the only rides were the lethal weapon and the wild west logride thing.

dreamworld is so much better. and i dont see myself going to movieworld just to go on that one new ride either.

anyways, here are some pictures form up q1. (i didnt take them, freind did)

Nice shots bluff!

Well I had already been to Dreamworld before. I'm not sure what new rides are there. now. But the Batman 2 is like the ultimate Giant Drop and the superman ride takes off quicker than the tower of terror.

I'd have to revisit Dreamworld again to compare. Since it was back in 1999 I went.
