the fiesta diesel idea above sounds quite good.

i like the new swift too. looks kinda like a mini in some ways. nice car but maybe a little girly?

i wouldnt get a corsa. im sure a new ones comming out soon, plus they are far more common than something like a swift, but also drive like cack.

if you like the looks of the fiat grande punto, id take a closer look. suppsoed to have a good 1.4 engine. i quite like em.

Used Audi A3 ... a good one with > 50000 km, less than 3 years old is in your budget I'd say. Don't get a new car for that kind of money !

thing is, if yer gonna spend 8k on a new car, i doubt you'd want to spend all of that on a car thats gonna cost a heck of a lot more to run than a 'cheaper' newer car would. although something like the audi isnt gonna depreciate as much over the next few years, it will cost more in fuel and servicing etc

There's definatly a few cars on here that i wouldn't of thought of even looking at, but i'm really tempted to start viewing some VW's or Ford.

I think my insurance will be about a grand whatever i get around that price range. Currently it's £473 which ain't bad for my first car lol.

Servicing - i'd agree, but if you pick the superb 1.9 TDi engine, then you should get acceptable economy with decent performance at tap.

However, seeing how well Audi's are built, you shouldn't get any problems with MOT tests. They should hold their value much better than other cars too.

Just talking about Audi's makes me desperate to own one. [shocked]

some good choices in there. i forgot about the polo and colt. the polo's had a recent face lift and it looks better for it. the colts a nice looking car too. i wouldnt bother with a fabia, as they are knockin on a bit now.

True but when your looking at cars you might opt for somethings thats slightly older but get a higher spec model than a newer car which you'd end up with a lower spec model.

Example:
02 reg car = vRS - £7500
05 reg car = Club - £7500 (Or whatever lower spec Fabia's are called)

See what I mean?

yeah i know what yer sayin. what i actually meant was that the fabia in its current for has been around for ages. id expect a face lift or something soon. the vRS is nice. and a diesel of course as well.
