We're not talking about 12-year-old+ software here. Leopard is just under 5 years old, roughly the same age as Vista. So... why are Apple still supporting Vista? Or, heck, XP?! Why are they producing 32-bit and 64-bit Windows versions? According to you, it's too much resource allocation.

The fact is, it's typical Apple modus operandi; they're bullying OSX users into either forcing an upgrade (at cost), or to buy a new Mac. I'd hardly call this 2.5GHz C2D, 4GB DDR2 obsolete hardware, either, so I'm in the middle of running Time Machine and then updating the OS.

Is the difference between Leopard and Snow Leopard that much of a difference? Serious question, that.
So basically you've completely ignored everything I said and went off on a rant anyway.

I literally don't know how to make it any clearer than this: I explained what had happened and I don't care about getting into an argument on the morals of it as basically it's just two people who have no idea about Apple making guesses on how we think their business is run.

When Apple drop support for some hardware just over 3 years old on their latest OS X builds, it's insane to expect them to support an OS as old as Leopard with iTunes.

Buy a newer Mac to use our buy and use phone pl0x! /Tim Cook falls to sleep on a bed made of 100 dollar bills.

No, just that your arguments are as dumbfounded as Apple's.

You clearly have absolutely no idea about how software development works. What exactly do you think is dumbfounded about my arguments? Do you think that Apple throw a bunch of poo at a wall and decide when to stop supporting stuff based on what sticks?

That's probably not far off.

I can see you're destined for a glittering career.

The software roadmap for an OS is done years in advance. Software companies can't foresee the future though so they can't tell if a new version of software will require legacy support. There are loads of apps that won't run on Leopard these days, why vilify Apple? Oh wait, it's because you think it's cool to hate them.

People should upgrade their Mac to a supported OS if they want full support. Apple charge about £50 to upgrade to Snow Leopard and you're back in the game. Pretty much any Mac that will run Leopard will run Snow Leopard.
