Why can you never, ever, accept that you are wrong and I am right. I don't even know why you're arguing about this since the correct answer should be obvious to even an ameba.

Cell phone: a phone that use a cell network

Mobile phone: a phone that one can use while on the move

A smartphone fits into both categories.

Maybe if you won't take my word for it, perhaps you will of the OED:
People either buy a smartphone or a feature phone. Everyone knows that they are both mobile phones, but everyone knows that all Fords are cars yet they have different names for different models.

Another example, you have Sky TV, but there are different types of Sky TV on offer.

The be honest, I'm baffled how you managed to take me saying "both are cellphones but there is a fundamental difference." to mean that a smartphone is not a mobile phone.

If there are "fundamentally different" as you say how can you also say they are the same thing?

Technically you are correct, both are cellphones but there is a fundamental difference.

A smartphone uses a mobile operating system and a cellphone doesn't. There are other differences as well, but that's the really big one.
It seems to me you were saying they are different.

I think you are just back-tracking now, but just can't bring yourself to admit that I was right and you erred.

I never said you were wrong about them both being cellphones, I said there was a fundamental difference in them. Can you get email, surf the web, play angry birds or navigate your way to the north pole on a feature phone? I suppose that's just a trivial difference in bunglevision?

I didn't mention anything about feature phones, you did.

I genuinely don't have the energy to argue with you. It's like spending an hour in the gym.

Hey DM, about that quote in your sig. Did dracom really say that? That easily rivals some of the stupidest **** that came out of Kaotika's mouth.

Cars v.s. Trucks

Im seeing this who scenario these days more like religion - who has the best imaginary friend?

In the devices themselves i think they are now getting to a stage where its like ordering lager in the pub theres more than one flavour but they all have the same effect in the end?

That said though Apple i find to be as a business enterprise very successful but as an industry leader very crap, suppressing, bullying, stealing and copying others only to claim it for your own really sets a benchmark!
Sad that they moan when it happens to them?

Mind you its a bit like all these badass rappers who brag about how gangster they are breaking the law yet cry when you illegally download their material- sucks when it happens to you?

JMLot 09-18-2012 03:19 AM

Is it possible to die from too many bad analogies?

This one right here easily matches dracom's post, IMO. Although it's longer, it actually packs more stupid per paragraph and I only read the first two...

well done good sir, well done.

You mean the one in my sig? Nah, that's in a league of its own.

Slight warning
http://www.businessinsider.com/apples-maps-risk-2012-9

What about searching with “iPad Repair” in the box? No results. No, seriously. Not a single thing. Maps didn’t know what to do with it because it’s not an address, business name or Yelp category. My brain hurts just trying to grasp the stupidity.

Meh, you can download Google Maps from the App store if need be.

The one that's probably winging its way into the App Store as we speak. They've already released a replacement YouTube app.

Yeah, I have the Youtube app.

True, the problem is going to be that when you click something that activates maps it will go to Apple Maps instead of Google Maps as you can't set default apps to use on iOS.

Yeah, that will be a bother.

I find the same thing with Chrome, the OS (obviously) kicks everything to ****ing Safari.
