prozac is a band aid, it doesnt cure, it just masks

i know far too many people who were pushed right to the edge by prozac

Why does OHP use two separate accounts again?

It depends if good OHP or bad OHP is in control at the time.

That's true, but it's good in that it helps you "keep your head above water" until you can sort out the root cause of the depression.

@OHP

Try to figure out what it is that's making you feel down, and concentrate on trying to improve that situation. Easier said than done, i know, but that's the way forward.

Maybe GP's seem keen to diagnose depression.

When you described how you were in the last thread, I thought you've always been like that, but you'll know better.

Seriously ask whether you need medication first. The wait for whoever your being referred to might be a bit of a long one, but unless things have gone downhill, it hold off the medication and wait to see if the problem can be identified. That is unless you think you'll be able to get yourself off the medication without a problem. I'm not doctor of course, but the reason I say it is because anyone I know who's taken anti-depressants ends up on them for ages with no attempt from doctors or whoever to get them off. That doesn't mean that's always the case though.

I am close friends with a few Afghanistan veterans, and they suffer from PTSD symptoms. I think the first step is realizing that it isn't weak to seek help, as any human being would be equally traumatized by the events that occurred there. Having like-minded individuals to talk to can be a huge relief of burden. It's always good to stay busy as well.

My laptop has the OHP account, my mobile has the ohp23 account, I used my phone to attempt to log into fm that time when there was that lack of users issue.

so basically every time I use my phone it logs me in as ohp23.

they were when i spoke to them; not one referred me to a shrink, and not one mentioned increasing physical activity (which worked, and prozac for sure did not).

GPs are on commission for every drug they push
cant trust someone who is on comission as far as im concerned
and a GP should never diagnose psycholgical issues
thats like going to a butcher to buy some cakes

That doesn't really make much sense. It's like saying you shouldn't go to a GP about chest pains because if you need a bypass well that's the Job of a heart surgeon. It's perfectly normal for a GP to be your first point of contact for a health issue, monitor it and then refer you to a specialist if it's outside of their realm. Why should mental health be any different?

maybe i didnt explain it properly

psychological problems........psychologist etc

physiological problems......GP
chest pains are physiological

a GP should never attempt to diagnose any psychological problems unless they are trained and have undergone psycholanalysis themselves

how about another analogy
its like going to blockbuster to ask them to fix your dvd player
ok that wasnt very good

I used to go to a therapist. I have major depressive disorder and avoidant personality disorder. She was useless at finding a solution. The best solution is sleep. If you're not at work, and you're not playing video games, you should be sleeping. Sleep is my anti-drug.

Lol, isn't excessive sleeping a common sign you are still depressed?

Best advice is to get out and do something. Have an adventure. Whether it be going off the beaten path on a mountain bike, or a vacation. Everyone needs a change of pace. Like me, I am about to go kill fish in the ocean. All the while hoping one of the most dangerous fish (tiger shark) doesn't kill me.

Bear with me here, I may be stepping outside the box with this one. How about OHP follows the recommendations of a trained professional instead of the advice of randoms on a internet forum?
