If Samsung is copying, how come for example at UK the court decided Apple needs to put adverts on their website + several newspapers that Samsung didn't copy them?
IMO one quote from the jury of the US trials tells enough about that trial and how much truth it has in it, "we skipped prior art because it was bogging us down" http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif As for your impression of Galaxy Ace, you obviously weren't just familiar enough with earlier Samsung products - all the Galaxy line etc are clear descendants of the F700, which Apple never claimed to have been copy of iPhone (and considering how closely together the two were shown, it's impossible it could have been anyway) The GUI copies? Gimme a break - Touchwiz (like all Android GUIs) is widget based desktop with separate app-drawer. The fact that you have backgrounds for the icons in app drawer doesn't make that a copy, nor does using the same theme in gallery icon - that was either a coincidence, or more likely just inspired by Apple as in, hey, that flower-thing really works for gallery, but it's not a copy. Apple is also trying to claim that Samsung (and thus pretty much everyone else) is copying them with various other icons, which have been always used to those functions on various platforms before Apple made the iPhone (phone-icon for the dialer, phonebook for contacts, notepad for notepad etc) |

Anyone who is strongly familiar with both would clearly see (particularly in the case of the S) that they mimicked iOS in numerous ways. |

Yes and no - it was more like "these things work better on iPhone, make ours work similarily or better", just standard business practice everyone including Apple does - research the competition products, and if something is done better, do the same thing your way, and better if possible.
Even with the UI, jury in the US case dismissed any prior art because it would have slowed down their process, as well as ignored the rules (like the punishment is supposed to be just for the damages, while the jury specificly said that they wanted it to be a clear punishment, a sharp slap on the wrist, but not too hard) |
Is first time try Apple product EsPeHil85?

And just as a reminder, what Steve once said: "Good artists copy - great artists steal", and that's what Apple has been doing all it's history, copy & steal, just like everyone else does. |

So far it seems good. It's very fluid. Android ICS wasn't even close to this but I think now with Jelly Bean it's pretty much the same. The display is nice but I expected more from the viewing angle... |

Outside of games it is impressive how they manage to keep the UI butter smooth running at a resolution higher than a vast majority of most computer monitors. |

I have used numerous Android tablets with significantly lower resolutions that don't cope as well. So it is absolutely a combination of both. Then you look at their new MacBook Pro that runs at a higher resolution than any consumer monitor and thanks to the Nvidia GPU combined with their Core Animation API, all the animations don't skip a frame. They have always put precedence on a smooth interface and just now Google is catching up with Project Butter in Jelly Bean, which is fantastic. |
I think we should clear up the fact that UI stands for User Interface and covers all of the interaction you have with the operating system (not including when you are using an app, obviously).
