The topic of areal namesa versus auser namesa has show up at least 3 or 4 times through the years, often in reaction to some unpleasant personal attacks by as yet not known people against other community members. Thereas never been an opinion but I believe the part tended to be somewhat in most. My own experience is that people here must use their real names. Why? Two reasons. One, you will find 3 or 4 new users every single day, most of these of a debateable character - spammers, for the most part. The most obvious spammers are erased immediately. The others aren't obvious and are left until they publish some junk and then are removed. This can be a large pain for me personally to cope with. Another explanation is this is just a community. Its not all knows everyone but many people of the panel reside in BC and are possibly followers or people of jazz music. Many people are welcome to publish, whatsoever they do and wherever they reside, however for the absolute most part the topic matter handles an area music scene. I believe real names might promote more of a feeling of a real group. I canat begin to see the drawback of a genuine titles plan. The others have stated that individuals mightn't feel liberated to express certain views apart from anonymously. I donat get that. That isnat a community about health issues or sexual habits or workplace problems. What possible strategies could anybody need certainly to reveal in a punk community? Anyway, if there clearly was anything you wouldnat post making use of your real name, only donat post it. That might be legit reason behind usernames but I also believe the problem is far outweighed by the benefit, which would be considered a ' I wish a' that more individuals would take part in the community if they didnat feel they were susceptible to personal problems by unknown people. In my opinion lots of previously active members left for that very purpose. One more thing Iave never comprehended is this: many person in this panel are professional artists. Why on the planet can you NOT need individuals to know your names? Youare in a company where name identification is just a concern. In any event Iam hovering very strongly in favor of applying some type of program that might need new users to register with their true names and for existing users with usernames to merely include a signature to their users so that their names come in their articles. Re-registering might also be a choice. Before I actually do something Iam requesting once more for your feedback on this problem, both by responding to this, or voting in the study. (Voting, incidentally, is unknown, therefore pelase have a second to click your preference.) John
