i have a 2004 MAZDA RX-8 WHICH WAS THE 2004 CAR AND DRIVER CAR OF THE YEAR. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP 12X. IT HAS A NEW ENGINE, NEW EXHAUST, NEW STEREO WHICH STILL DOESNT WORK, VARIOUS PIECES OF GARBAGE PLASTIC FOR THE INTERIOR ALL REPLACED, PLUS A FEW OTHERS I HAVE FORGOTTEN. IT IS NOW BACK IN THE SHOP FOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS...........THAT GUESS WHAT THEY DONT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG OR CAUSING IT. THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT AND THE COMPANY WILL NOT DO A FUCKING THING ABOUT IT. THE ROADSIDE WARRANTY RUNS OUT IN 2 MONTHS AND NOBODY WILL TAKE THIS FUCKING CAR AND I CANNOT SELL THIS CAR AS I WOULD NEVER FUCK SOMEONE OVER LIKE THAT.
MAZDA DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THE VEHICLES PERIOD AND COULD GIVE 2 SHITS ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO BUY THERE VEHICLES. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY WIFE ON HER WAY HOME FROM WORK ALMOST CAUSING A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. |

Welcome to the world of rotaries. Honestly, you'll have better luck getting your problems fixed by talking with fellow RX8/RX7/Rotary owners. Sign up on www.rx8club.com, plenty of people over there will be more than happy to help and point you in the right direction. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I've been building rotary race cars for many years, what you describe is normal but can be fixed with the right maintenance and care.Originally Posted by Air Supply ![]() its normal to have an engine replaced after 20,000 miles? its normal to have an exhaust system replaced at 12,000 miles? its normal for the electical system to basically shut the car down while its being driven? its normal for the mazda dealership to call and say hey we cant give you your car back yet cause hey we dont know whats wrong with it (not once but 3 different times)....................bullshit. with all due respect this has nothing to do with maintenance and care. |

![]() I do agree, however, with your recommendation of joining the rx8 club. I belong to two Mercedes clubs and they have saved me thousands of dollars. Edge, check the lemon law of your state, as they vary, this may qualify with a traceable history of repeated problems. |

I generally check this site on any make or model of car to get an idea of what I might be getting myself into if I where to purchase a specific car. Consumer report is also handy because they list what recalls and common designs flaws that went wrong with makes /models / years. Remember engineers have flaws and so do their designs. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries before a new design becomes solid, or sometimes its solid from the get go. Heres the page of comments for the 2004 RX-8 http://carsurvey.org/modelyear_Mazda_RX8_2004.html |

Same goes for Audi. Had a recall on there automatic transmissions to where
the front sealed unit had a fluid that would dry up and damage the gears, thats exactly what happened to mine. went to the dealer he in turn passed me off to another, and another, and another finally was told tough shit the car had too many miles on it and hung the phone up FUCK AUDI. |
