Interesting email from the friend in France, the famous surrealist author and artist, Guy Ducornet. We'd been speaing frankly about good drummers we'd seen. I described the visits of how I surely got to jam with him and Philly Joe Jones in 1965. Also that I'd seen and shortly achieved Elvin, Art Blakey, and Tony Williams, and had seen Max Roach and Roy Haynes play. Man responded with some information on his past that I did so perhaps not know. He wrote: If perhaps we'd considered getting great images of all of the punk geniuses we saw... I was near to Art Blakey for some time, in Philadephia (' 61)... Where I found Philly Joe Jones with Hank Mobley and Miles, Paul Chambers and (I believe) Bobby Timmons.. that's. I once found Kenny Clarke with only a drum and a in a "cave" in Angers And when I taught (French Lit.) shortly at Amherst College in '76-'78, Max Roach was on the school -- with Archie Shepp etc...Memories! " Thoughts certainly!
