Begin with a crate containing five monkeys. Within the crate, hold a strawberry on a chain and place some steps under it. In a short time, a horse may visit the steps and begin to rise towards the banana. The moment he touches the steps, apply all the other monkeys with cold-water. Before long, still another horse makes an effort with exactly the same effect - the rest of the apes are sprayed with cold-water. Soon, when another horse tries to climb the steps, one other apes will attempt to avoid it. Now, set aside the cold-water. Eliminate one horse from the crate and replace it with a brand new one. The brand new horse sees the banana and really wants to climb the steps. To his surprise and terror, all the other apes strike him. After still another effort and assault, he knows when he tries to climb the steps, he'll be attacked. Next, eliminate still another of-the initial five apes and replace it with a brand new one. The beginner would go to the steps and is infected. The prior beginner takes part in the consequence with excitement! Similarly, change a third unique horse with a brand new one, then a last, then the sixth. Each time the horse takes to the steps, he's infected. Many of the apes that are beating him have no idea why they weren't allowed to climb the steps o-r why they're taking part in the beating of the horse. After replacing all of the original monkeys, none-of the rest of the monkeys have actually been sprayed with cold-water. None the less, no horse again approaches the steps to test for the strawberry.
