Just as, in past generations, collections of letters and essays remained as a written testament to the life of the deceased, so now emails, blogs, discussion lists/forums (such as this one) and a host of other social networking applications will remain as the written testament of our lives even after our death. Just as, in the past, some particularly poignant or interesting or important collections of letters and essays were published posthumously for the entertainment, education and edification of the readers so also now there will be collections of emails, blogs, etc published (both in print and electronically) for our reading. Those who wish to do this first hand can simply go to the account of Fr Averky, a late member of this group, and choose "find all posts" and read what he wrote here in the last year of his life. This is part of his testament. Whenever I post to monachos or to any other discussion site, I remember this legacy of Fr Averky's and strive to make my own internet legacy even a fraction as worthy after my own departure.

Father, I couldn't access the link at "what he wrote here." Could you try again?

But how will we know when one of us passes on? I suppose I should leave instructions with my wife to log on and leave a message. I hope others would do something similar.

Oh sorry - I guess you have to do it manually. Go to his profile page, click on the "find all posts" link and you will get the search page with all his posts. That's where the other link in my post was supposed to take you
