U.N. Agreement Should Have All Gun Owners Up In Arms

It may not come as surprising news to many of you that the United Nations doesn’t approve of our Second Amendment. Not one bit. And they very much hope to do something about it with help from some powerful American friends. Really? Why would they give a ****?

SAUNDERSAN 07-09-2012 08:09 PM

While the terms have yet to be made public, if passed by the U.N. and ratified by our Senate, it will almost certainly force the U.S. to: Good luck with that.

http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/lol.gif at the article.

Btw, even though the 2nd Amendment protects individual rights to own arms, that doesn't mean it restricts licensing and registration of those arms. After all, you have to have a permit for a protect (1st Amendment) - no right in the Bill of Rights is absolute, nor intended to be.

This treaty is frankly outrageous, and would presumably be unconstitutional to boot, if the Heller case is any indication. There's no way it's passing the Senate in any case. Not only would it be opposed by probably every Republican, Democratic senators like McCaskill and Manchin and the one from Alaska would oppose it as well.

goatteatromiag 07-10-2012 01:08 AM

I don't understand it, but I'm mad as hell about it! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/mad.gif :hell: :wiglaf:

I especially love how he clarifies that government-owned guns would be exempt from confiscation of unauthorised civilian firearms.

Since his entire article is purely conjecture:

All gun owners must also shoot off their pinky toe before giving up their guns.

http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/tongue.gif ACK!

Just like in the Simpsons movie? Insidious!

Yeah, FEMA camps are from the third Deus Ex game. I literally laughed out loud when the bullshit spewed by the in-game right wing nutjob on his radio talk show turned out to be true.

At least our burglars get their heads blown off.

Except that the SENATE would need to approve it. The president can only give the treaty to the Senate for approval, he can't do anything on his own.

Temporarily. Like exercise, or a cup of coffee.

If you're lucky.

An apt punishment for burglary.

I wonder how many people get killed by guns in fits of rage during domestics for every burglar?
I'd guess dozens but that fact doesn't matter to the gun nuts.

Not only that but treaties require 2/3rds of the senate to vote for it. Good luck finding 13 Republican senators to approve this thing.

What's great about all this is that Ben teaches US history.

If there's anything more futile in life than arguing with Americans about guns, it's trying to teach Ben basic history.

This has nothing to do with whether citizens can be forbidden to own weapons.
It has to do with the definition of a 'well regulated militia'. Regardless of Hamiltons views, it does seem to provide clarity for what that term means.

Accidental deaths should only bother Creationists. Anybody who accepts the science of evolution knows that dumbasses need to be culled.
