No, what I meant is that leftists saw a lot of relatively modern young guys using twitter and facebook in order to organize demonstrations against a dictator and thought! look, they also want freedom, and democracy, and western modern civil liberties!

Then, the dictator falls, and the people vote for an islamist and not a modern, democratic, liberal person, and the non muslims be them christian minority or a relatively secular person have it worse than under Mubarak, Hussein or Assad.
I'm just confused by you seemingly pointing at that as a leftist problem when the left arent the ones *****ing about it.

Nikkkola 07-23-2012 02:14 PM

I was not talking about that.
I was talking about support from leftist in western countries to the popular revolutions organized through twitter and facebook that happened in North Africa and the Middle East. I think most leftists in western countries supported the rebels in Lybia, and want the rebels to win in Syria.

I always opposed the American invasion of Iraq.

Yes, like Netanyahu, that well known socialist-progressive straight out of a Woody Allen diatribe on jewish red diaper babies. You know, Netanyahu is a free marketeer who is quoted as saying he "speaks" Republican. And he commands the support of a majority of Israeli Jews (by way of a coalition of aligned parties that support him over all other alternatives), who have been voting in right-wing free marketeer governments for 13 of the past 16 years. This is a society that went from socialist communes to a wellspring of high-tech venture capitalists.
There are more Jews in America than Israel. American Jews are overwhelmingly Democratic. Jews traditionally have been viewed as overwhelmingly leftist.

Are you really trying to portray the majority of Jews as right-wingers?

Most jews are left wing ergo all jews are left wing?

Are you saying that all efforts to appeal to a non-majority are useless?

The GOP tries to appeal to Jews? Really? If they're elderly Jews in Florida, maybe.

Probably defining "Jewish" differently in a dumb way.

Zevico, what are we blind to?

Lebanon has a religious-based system (Confessionalism) and it's not a theocracy.

Lebanon has so many ethnic conflicts it should get a big sign saying: "STABILITY IS IMPORTANT TO US. IT HAS BEEN X DAYS SINCE OUR LAST VIOLENT PISS UP."
Which is why it has a Confessional system to mitigate religious conflict.

And let's not ignore Israel and Syria's involvement in Lebanese instability.

http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/lol.gif Israel's involvement? Yes, let's blame Israel for Hezbollah. Makes sense.
Syria is absolutely to blame, however.
Are you really this ignorant?

Lebanese Civil War, the IDF invades Lebanon. Israel funds a Maronite paramilitary group, the South Lebanon Army, as well as the Lebanese Forces and the Lebanese Front.

Israeli meddling during the Lebanese Civil War was PERVASIVE. They funded and equipped an entire side of the war and even invaded with the IDF.

That gets laughing from you? How is actually INVADING a country AND funding/equipping proxy paramilitary units not involvement?

You know it's bad when the US intervenes with troops (and not on the side of Israel!) and Ronald Reagan had to appeal to Begin to end the siege of Beirut. When the US goes against Israel's interests, Israel must be really pushing it.

And don't make me dig up Commandant Barrow's letter to the Secretary of Defense about systematic harassment of US military personnel by the IDF during the Lebanese Civil War.

Have I mentioned how Asher called the Muslim Brotherhood a fringe group akin to Fred Phelps Westboro church? Adorable. Bloke deserves a cupcake.

Oh and because I'm a curious sort, I thought I'd check and see what news sites were running your 'Pyramids in wax' story. Let's see..

Daily Mail
Weekly World News
Christian Post

You're swiftly becoming a parody character now. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/tongue.gif

The ancient Egyptian relics are in no danger. They are a source of national pride for Egyptians, a pride that scarcely has a comparable in any other nation.

mr.memo 07-24-2012 05:30 PM

I think Zevico doesn't know a single Egyptian national. He wouldn't make stupid comments like that if he did.
