A Chinese farmer caused chaos on the roads when he ducked out to feed his flock of 5,000.

Hong brought streets in the eastern city of Taizhou to a standstill when, accompanied by a colleague, he took his animals to a pond.

Armed with nothing but a cane, he guided his feathered friends three quarters of a mile as part of an annual tradition in Zhejiang province.

There seems to be two ducks with black heads and tails--clearly visible in pictures 3 and 5. Must be special ducks.

back in the day, this was a common occurence in the new territories of HK. Mostly white ducks but it was a common sight to see a farmer shepherding his ducks down to the local dam or what ever. Never lost a duck, all the ducks would just waddle along like they knew where they were going. Of course they did.

Do you notice one thing about them ducks? Probably not a one of them knows they will end up with their heads chopped off. Funny that.

Another thing about HK or chinese and ducks was that they used to hang the cooked ducks, porks etc in the windows of their stores and restaraunts. The ducks were always flat. Flat Ducks. As a kid the only thing I could come up with for how they got the ducks flat was that they must be putting them under the wheels of the double decker buses that they use(d) in HK. Never did see it in action though.

One thing to take away from this is that herding ducks is easier than managing people.

& all their wings are clipped. That's why they can't fly to the pond or escape.

Ducks and chickens in China are raised often in coops built over ponds where their droppings feed the scallops and shrimp they also raise..which is why I am cautious about the source of my seafood. I prefer wild caught..
