Still waiting to see it so no spoilers please, but do they have a villain who actually fights in person in this one, or is it just Loki bossing around a bunch of faceless robots while he sits in a chair and chews scenery?

I thought it was ok. Below Ironman, but above any of the other movies. Essentially, I want to be Robert Downey jr.

Tony Stark is gay. Robert Downey jr is where the action is.

An incredibly silly/stupid movie, but one I enjoyed quite a bit nonetheless.

Loki gets involved.

It was a damn fun movie.

Wow. What did the few guys from Afghanistan do in Manhattan? Serve some bad shawarma? Drive someone from JFK to the Park Plaza via Great Neck?

How did a bunch of laser shooting alien space sharks do less damage to Manhattan than a few guys from Afghanistan?
Technically they were from Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Loki gets involved.
Well, the wife and I will go see it just as soon as she gets a decent reservoir of pumped milk for the wee man. I was kinda puzzled to hear that the villain would be Loki again, because a lot of the fun of superhero movies is watching hero and villain throw cheesy lines at each other along with the missiles, lasers and chunks of masonry. That, and it's just easier to get into it when the villain has a face to punch--as in the (non-terrible) Hulk movie where he rips the cop car in half and repeatedly smashes Tim Roth's chops with the halves. That was just fun to watch. But Loki, apart from being more of a slinking schemer type, isn't really convincing as a physical combatant. The way he minces around with that cane, he always reminded me of Jim Carrey playing the Riddler. Anyway, I'll go see what Whedon did with him.

I didn't actually know it was a Whedon movie going in, but as soon as I saw him credited everything made sense.

I thought the movie delivered nicely.

Mark Ruffalo was a great choice as David Banner.
The little cliques and infighting within the good-guys side of things is perfect Whedon fodder.

Plus, Tony Stark has ditched his Audi and is now driving an Acura, which should make it easier for Asher to pick his new car.

Off topic, but how does one deranged guy with a rifle manage to successfully drive up to your prime minister's office, bomb it thoroughly, then freely get on a ferry to go shoot 60 people on an island, for about an hour and a half, before any police bother to stop him? Is there no security anywhere in your capital? Like an equivalent to our secret service? Do your police have spitballs?

OP reminded me of it, and I just noticed he was from Norway, and I have always been too afraid to ask that question in public because I don't know what a Norwegian looks like.

ironman >> batman
This is wrong! Nerd rage!

But seriously, Tony Stark is a lot of fun, but he's style over substance. Sure, Batman is a wet blanket, but beneath that sogginess is the complexity of a man who's truly lost his mind.

Also, Batman has far better villains. Ironman's villains are only remembered for their racial stereotypes.

On a related note,

FACT: The Dark Knight was a much better movie than this.
I haven't seen Avengers, but neither Christian Bale nor Batman had anything to do with making that a good movie. Mostly, it was just Heath Ledger doing that lizard-y thing with his tongue.
