I just watched "the Opposite" and "the Merv Griffin Show" episodes of Seinfeld (well, I'm halfway through both). And one big advantage Community has is that you actually *like* the characters. |

Chevy Chase slams "Community" in new rant By Jessica Derschowitz Topics Television (CBS News) The behind-the-scenes drama at "Community" continues. A week after series creator Dan Harmon apologized for making an angry voicemail from cast member Chevy Chase public, their feud is making waves again because of a new leaked recording. In the audio, obtained by Celebuzz, Chase calls the show a "f---ing mediocre sitcom." "I want people to laugh and this isn't funny," he continued. "It ain't funny to me because I'm 67-years-old and I've been doing this a long time. I've been making a lot of people laugh - a lot better than this." According to the website, the message is purportedly from March 2011, during the show's second season, and Harmon is playing it for production executives. Chase expressed frustration in the recording over editorial decisions made on the show, complaining that his material was cut short in favor of romantic storylines. "Obviously, you don't get my humor at all," he told Harmon. "Or what it is I do that's funny, that actually makes people laugh." "I think your writing is great. I think everything you do is great," Chase continued. "But the real problem is, Dan, that you're not there when we shoot and you're not there when they edit so you don't even know what you have. You've got to give me some range." A spokesman for Chase told Celebuzz that the voicemail was from a year ago and would not comment on it. Tensions between the actor and Harmon first became public when Harmon played a profanity-filled voicemail from the actor. He later apologized for leaking the message. "I made the horrible, childish, self-obsessed, unaware, naive and unprofessional decision to play someone's voicemail to me," Harmon wrote on his blog last week. "That was a dumb, unclassy, inconsiderate move on my part. I'm very sorry it's reflecting poorly on the show." NBC has not yet said whether it will bring "Community" back for a fourth season. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31749_16...y-in-new-rant/ ...if this is from over a year ago, what's the point in releasing it now? |
