Default Best Game Console
Do you have friends with consoles? If so, buy whatever they have. No point getting a PS3 if your buddies are all on XBox, or vice verse.

Don't bother with a Wii unless you're an 80 year old woman.

The xbox 360 has the best games, in my opinion.

Xbox is better. They're the market leader, with more exclusive games, early releases on downloadable content, a better online service, and a larger player base. Plus, they haven't been hacked.

New consoles will probably be coming out in 2013, as far as I understand. There's been some rumors over the past few months about a new Xbox.

What happens in 2013? Have you been told that you have 1 1/2 years to live?

Get them all! I have 23 already. Great fun.

Never play with them, though.

Is there anything to the idea that the PS3 is still a superior (if more expensive) Blu Ray player to a standalone? Have been thinking of getting one, but it's largely for that.
Well, yes and no.

Netflix, Hulu Plus, Sunday Ticket, and a few others might not be doable on blu ray players. I think the PS3 is superior for games, based on graphics alone but I also dont do anything multiplayer on anything but a PC.

Pssh... Xbox 360 is better for most games graphically. IGN always does the XBOX/PS3 comparisons and XBOX is always better, plus somehow always has a better frame rate than PS3 games.
LA Noire blows your idea to pieces.

How so?
Theres a lot of games that look better on PS3, and a lot that look better on Xbox. The key determining factor is which one received the port.

I say piffle to your new-fangled toys, Elok.

ColecoVision is the only right answer to this question.

Eh, other than Sunday Ticket (which I'm not paying for) I can do that on my 360, and since the vast majority of games are ported now that's also not a big draw. It's mostly a choice between buying a PS3, a standalone player, or a bd-rom for my media PC. But I'd heard that the PS3 does better playback on both audio and video than the other options.
