It is probably even faster than that because my work line gets higher speeds.
Of course it's faster, the server probably can't handle more than around 500mbits.

Does fibre generally have low pings? Throughput is clear but I'm astonished at the single digit pings you guys are showing! [surrender]

Of course the server can, I have had that very server go up to around 700mbps.

The guys who posted their speeds and have that nice low ping are on cable it seems. Though the companies could be backed with fiber support infrastructure. Being less than 50 miles would hep too.

It seems that I am the only one in this thread on fiber (from the home), and Im ~100 miles from the server with the low ping. When I was on Comcast, 15/3 line, ping to Atlanta ranged from 25~35ms.

Yeah but sometimes you hit a snag and it doesn't go higher when it actually is.

Atlanta, roughly 100 miles.

Practically like its an addition to my router, lol.

I remember gaming back in the day, lan parties, a friend was using wireless B usb plug in. We were playing Unreal Tournament and his ping was 7, lol.

Your less than 50 miles from Boston and that is your speed!?
That is barely better then dialup! Its interesting how fast your upload is compared to your download.

Is that all you have in your area for land based services!? I'd image so and that is lame. How can you be in the middle of no where so close to Boston!?

Look into Sprint. $50/mo gets you unlimited 3G and 4G coverage. You should totally have 3G, and maybe be in an area with 4G?
Sprint says peak 3G speed is 3.1Mb and peak 4G is 10Mb+. Though you might still have the latency issue.

its supposed to be a 3Mb connection but its all over the place, cable in my town is only 1.5Mb and just as unreliable.

No 4GB in my area

so close yet so far away
