Default Education, from craftsman to procesoperator.
I have invested alot of time and dedication into myself to always go forward and improve my qualities and to make the imperfections smaller in my job career.

I have not been to a university or a school of that level.

From a simple diploma, involving crafsmanship, I have developped myself in reasonable to good understanding my jobs business, the output of production, printing ISO normation test prints ( of course for a company ISO certification, helped with achieving FSC certification and more.

My career is printing technique. Some of you may think paper will be replaced, but technology brings more than liquid crystals in displays and software combined with new smaller hardware.

In the printing industry a revolution is going on and I am offerd to be one of two, from 9 printing guys, to take a course proces-operator.
My boss came with the offer and asked me to think about it this weekend.

I will take it with both hands. Investment in your knowledge, expanding vision and kow-how.. be able to have more in-depth perception of troubles and to keep expensive presses running round the clock.

I think you have to use google translation for the following website , which explains what it exactly is:
http://www.goc.nl/Procesoperator-druktechniek.aspx

I'm happy!

Don't worry, I have to use Google translator for all your posts.

You don't want to stand still, it's a good idea to take the oppertunity. Hard copy printing will be around for a long time yet, but it must be important to keep ahead of the game.

Aww .. always? Damn!

Yer "hard copy printing" as you name it, will be around. But the future prospects are like this:

10 years ago there were over 4000 graphic companies, now there are about 2800 left. In future ( 10 to 15 years) 500 will be left. Big players only, those who innovate and move on.

It's stressfull at times, to switch mind and leave the old to be old and move on to new.

here's an 2009 video of me controlling press ( repost!)

photospectral colour measurement, lots of computer controlled items.. looks easy yeah? [thumbup]

Further trainintg is good as it increases the investment the company has in you, meaning they're more likely to keep you on if things get tough - it also means that if you are laid off then you've got a better skill set for a future employer.

As a general rule of thumb; if your employer offers to pay for any kind of training then you take it. It's a no-brainer.

Not so true.

I once did a training that did not comply with what I already knew. I quit, because it was more of a training that kept old fashioned teachers a job.. nothing more. People who knew nothing about printing participated as well... And there I was in classroom, with knowledge and experience.. A repeat of what I learned in my teenage years.

I did right in quitting. I got 8's and 9's all over.. Sorry but than I stop.

This will actually be of help in progress. I do fine in what I do and it takes alot of energy as well.

Next thing to do is quit alcohol.

[edit] I like to take a course in speaking in public, help explaining yourself ( as I speak too much from heart than mind) and continue my journey in life. I think I need this as well, I'd feel happy about it. I am not sure the outcome of this though.

I did a toastmasters' course some years back, helped a lot with nervousness about speaking to large groups of people. I would recommend it.
