Default CNN is a joke
Has anyone been witnessing the epic collapse of this once decent news network? I get more and more frustrated with the nonsense every day.

They do a more thorough reporting job on celebrity nonsense then worthwhile issues. I find myself having to go to Al Jezeera instead.

Here is a perfect example of the epic bullshit that litters their home page.

For the record, this has nothing to do with my personal religious beliefs. There are so many things wrong with the article, first: lists. Lists are the lowest form of reporting (10 ways to find out of he is into you!!!). Also, content, look at Number 8 for just an appalling bit of non-information.

I will say it loudly and proudly. **** you CNN, as bad as FOX.

CNN was not as bad as FOX News until recently; more recently than 5 years. Now it is all about social media and celebritism.

Meh, I get my news from HLN or The Daily Show. Havn't watched CNN for many years now.

Edit: yes, I know HLN used to be CNN, but it's not the same as the current CNN channel imo.

Maybe they just need to give the dude an article from time to time. You know, quotas and stuff...

Al Jazeera's international news coverage is actually quite excellent and more balanced than most American news outlets.

But print remains the most reliable source of news. Hard to beat the The Atlantic, New Yorker, Harper's, or Times for in-depth coverage and reporting.

Maybe you should start getting your news from the same source where you get your financial analysis. What was that amateurish website you were promoting as credible? You know, the one with advertisements for shady gold investments.

It was a professor at Duke, a man with a PhD, discussing a single particular issue in a series of videos. Not really a source of... wait, why would I bother with discussing this with you of all people? The extent of your experience in finance is validating large bills with a marker.

Anyway, to your point, outside of the news of the Middle East, Al-Jazeera is quite good.

I troll the CNN discussion boards daily. The site is a joke. For at least the past few years they've been no better than Fox.

They're just as biased as well, sometimes more so. Horrible reporting, writing articles that are so one sided it should be criminal, etc.

They have a real hardon for taking things they can write sensationalist pieces on and then presenting only the "facts" that support their side. They could take a news article about a man who was released from prison after new evidence proves he wasn't guilty of rape and that the woman lied. By the time CNN was done with it the man would be a serial rapist, the woman would be getting donations and would be the victim of a terrible crime, and you'd have an angry mob of CNN viewers wanting to kill the man.

The things I read on that website...

the most reliable sources of news are the ones read with a critical mind

plenty of misinformation also in these newspapers

Never really watched CNN, but the reputation of Fox is pretty well know. So if it's anything like that, then, oh dear. Al Jazeera is pretty good, I don't mind watching that. Don't really have time to get news from print, which is maybe a shame, but there we go.

Last nail in CNN's coffin was Larry King retiring.

We need the Daily Show to actually be daily instead of just mon-thurs, best news on TV.

Right, another thread cleared up, multiple infractions handed out and a ban. Looks like the usual trouble makers are ensuring they won't be here for long.

I do know that this thread was out of hand but it really is in good fun.

While I respect that, from a complete outsider, it makes this place look evil and harsh and we're working on removing that.

My GF has just told me that I am a childish ****. Before you start laughing William, I'm pretty sure she was including you in that diagnosis.

Ironically, she mentioned this from her position in front of a marathon session of The Only Way Is Essex, or some rubbish like that.

Let me try to pry this back on target.

Never really watched CNN, but the reputation of Fox is pretty well know. So if it's anything like that, then, oh dear. Al Jazeera is pretty good, I don't mind watching that. Don't really have time to get news from print, which is maybe a shame, but there we go.
CNN is about the same level as FOX now, seriously read this link from their front page (CCN Belief Blog... :/ )

Last nail in CNN's coffin was Larry King retiring.

We need the Daily Show to actually be daily instead of just mon-thurs, best news on TV.
I do find the Daily Show to be one of the better sources of news, but it is not thorough or fair (nor does it claim to be) enough to replace my daily needs.

Fox is a subsidiary of News Corporation, so if it happened at The News Of The World then it's likely to happen on Fox.

Do any of you guys read the Associated Press? I pretty much just use their RSS feed for top stories , which seems to get the job done.
