I always thought this was an amusing picture. Before and after iPhone:

Sure, it's a funny picture, with some truth to it, but let's not get carried away.

My phone from years before the iphone:

I still have it somewhere and last I checked it worked! I played so much pocket heroes on that thing, that's why I kept it way longer than I should have

(btw, mine was the qtek 2020i, which over there would have been an XDA IIi - the way over the top 520mhz version )

If I was from the US I would be embarrassed by this.

Well Apple is heavily reliant on Samsung for components like displays and memory, so it will be interesting to see what happens with this.
The company I work for lost an appeal on a patent infringement suit a few months ago, and the location I work at happened to supply components to the other company. Now, we don't. For me, it will certainly be interesting to see how it plays out.

You're from Wales. You have your own problems to deal with. *

It wouldn't be worth Samsung pulling out of that deal.

This only covers older products and only the US. Apple may try and extend it to the Galaxy S3, Note and future devices but it will be difficult as the designs are different again, maybe users outside the US might get a firmware with new icon designs.

Samsung will appeal and this will go on for years to come, this is far from being over.

I hope Samsung just jack up the prices for US users, make them pay for it.

Yeah, nothing says "we want to have fewer customers" than jacking up the prices out of revenge. Those damn consumers that wanted to buy a Samsung phone sure should suffer!

Why should anyone else pay extra? this only effects US users.

That phone was excluded from the ruling dummy!

(Oh yeah, I got to call a Mod "dummy")
I was commenting on his post, hence the quote, Einstein.

Such an ignorant statement. This is just the first step in the overall legal process. This isn't even close to over with all the appeals that will be filed. The final results probably wont come about for another few years.

I wonder if it was the same court that freed OJ.

who would have thought that a US court room , with Apple being a US company sueing a foreign company - 10 miles from Apple HQ would actually win huh

Right, because the result of pricing their phones so they are not competitively priced in a nation of 314 million will not effect anyone else. I recommend this book to read:

This is the best possible decision even though it does not seem like it. Now other companies will be forced to innovate, instead of copying without fear.

Let me reiterate this point, IT IS NOT OVER. There will be countless appeals on every minute detail of this case. Samsung will appeal everything from the actual ruling to the admission of evidence. This case will drag on for another two to three years. Honestly, sometimes you people amaze me with your daftness.

Wrong. This ruling changes nothing, as it is not the definitive decision.

I wonder if it was the same court that freed OJ.
This is flat out embarrassing.
