The previous rovers had no defenses either. And martian rovers true value is accomplished only as long as they are roving martian soil.

I had hoped it would be destroyed before landing, what a waste of money.

It's more worthwhile than lots of things that people never complain about or waste money on.

For what purpose?

We have plenty of defense.

And offense, and curiosity cost a tiny fraction of the defense budget.

We should spend less money on war, and more money on things like curiosity.

Why am I not playing fetch with my dog on the surface of the moon yet. Besides there always more room for war funding.

No, there isn't and if less people cared about war we'd all be better off.

And you use many things that originate from the space program every single day of your life.

I kind of wish you were on the surface of the moon.

this world would be technologically boring if we didn't have wars, that necessitated the need for research.

Computers would have been made without war.

You're attributing too much positivity to militaristic culture.

And the fact is, you can't rightly say none of those other things would have been made anyway either.

For someone that claims that they are so smart (do smart people have to remind others so often?) you are really missing out on his sarcasm. He gave you more than one chance too.

Maybe you got so smart that you wrapped around to the other side.
