Bought a Nissan GTR

Damn I am excited!

Been in an out of Nissan since the new GTR launched but never had the guts or cash to buy one. Business has been great over the last two years and last weekend I managed to sell my Impreza for way above trade in value to a friend of my brother so I finally caved the other day and put a deposit down on a new GTR.

Went for Daytona Blue with the Recaro interior.

The dealer just sent me these pictures now they got the car in!

Having the front end wrapped with paint protection film next Friday and should be picking it up on the Saturday.

Its going to be a long week!

I think they are an awesome car. And very fast on a track. And I wouldn't turn one away if someone offered me the keys to one. In fact, someone did offer me the keys. I found the car to be somewhat boring on a track seeing as how much the computer does. Its exceedingly fast and handles very well, but the experience was lacking in raw emotion.

Still, you don't live every day on Road America or a track and as a Daily Driver Supercar its amazing at it.

Congrats on the purchase.

Can only do 200mph on a track. Otherwise its 110mph limited via GPS location. :)

Remember Launch Control voids your warranty too. Or at least it did, may not anymore.

Congrats dude, this is a great ride you got yourself!

...wanna race? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/tongue1.gif

Cheers guys, I don't think I will sleep for a week!

No having a go I'm afraid but passenger rides no faster than the local speed limits could be arranged http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/tongue1.gif

I have not been on a track but on the road you are right its like a mini Veyron and I couldn't get the traction control to blink with it in R mode so I guess you have to push it pretty hard or drive in the wet before the computers kick in to save you.

As for the GPS limit that is only in Japan so no problem there!
Launch Control on the new cars is part of the experience. You can do 4 or 5 in a row before the car asks you to stop and drive a few miles to let everything cool down. This does not void the warranty is is covered in great detail in the manual.

Check this video:

I don't know which year you had a go in but the new 2012 (2013 in the USA) is much improved all round over the first models.

Sure its not a lightweight track car but if that was what I wanted I wouldn't have bought a GTR http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/biggrin1.gif

Not my favorite car ever, but I am in fact jealous. Very nice and gratz, have fun!

adactthrd 07-28-2012 03:00 AM

Very, very nice. In my opinion the best new car available in terms of bang for your buck.

Indeed! Next up in my book is the MP4-12C and then Aventador. Both of which offer a bit more bang but way more bucks!

That's only in Japan.

I do know quite a bit about cars. More than most do through real world experience, but that doesn't mean I know everything.

When I read about the GPS limitation the article didn't mention that it was a Japan only feature.

most import jap cars in my experience are limited electronically, perhaps they are factory limited and not GPS.

mind you I'd rather be able to to over 110 mph but not actually have to.

I guess you are talking about the Pedestrain Saftey system where the bonnet pops up on a front impact.
If the car is stationary the bonnet wont pop as the system is disabled.

I still don't want anyone kicking my car though!

I've lived in the assumption of gps tracked limiter. And it shouldn't be Japan only.

Well I guess we have one member who can verify this soon.
