Apparently I have a lower BMI than 91% of males aged 30-44 in my country (96% if I change it to the country of my birth). And I'm most like someone from Burundi

It's extremely imperfect, in fact. Anyone who has ever touched a weight or played a sport in their life is going to get a grossly inaccurate measurement. My BMI says I'm morbidly obese, and I am 6' 4", 227lbs. with less than 10% body fat. What it takes is the ability to fast a couple of times a week to help contract your stomach, and not having more eyes than stomach when filling your plate, and most importantly, stopping eating as soon as you feel full, regardless what food is still on your plate. Most of our parents had parents that remembered or were taught to clean your plate due to the ration era of WW2 or the depression. That view of food is antiquated in our over calorie saturated world. |

While BMI is imperfect, it is a good predictor. Guess who the prime candidates for becoming bloated in their mid 30's are? Big muscle guys. It is hard to stop eating when you stop lifting everyday, which invariably happens around the mid 30's. Maybe you will be the .5% special case that exercises just as much in your 40's, 50's and 60's... but odds are you will get tired just like everyone else, tired of exercising I mean, not shoveling food to your mouth. |

Exercise is a life-style choice. I have been doing it since I was 14. My eating habits are directly correlated to the amount of exercise and calories I expel a day. I took a week off after having my wisdom teeth extracted and didn't have much of an appetite at all. Also, underweight individuals such as yourself have a tendency of being just as unhealthy as those who are overweight. I am also not dissing you, just telling you a fact of life. There is a reason 9 out of 10 pro athletes are fat 5 years after they leave their league. Not to mention, there are legitimate changes you can't counter to your body ~ mid 30's without taking drugs that have adverse side effects. Father time is a bitch that we all meet one way or another. I can't drink nearly like I used to, which in itself is good. You do plan on having kids, yes? Lets see just how much energy you have to hit the gym 5 times a week after a couple of years of that ![]() |

155 is not underweight for 6ft. If anything, I will live longer, as those with lower calorie intake often do. How many fat 90 year old's do you see? ![]() However my reasons for working out are much different than most others. If I do not expel the energy, I have a tendency of becoming depressed. It runs in the family, unfortunately. Also, I have a fairly low calorie diet for someone my size. And, Pro athletes become fat because their job is to stay in top physical shape. Once the financial motivation is removed, there really isn't much else to push them once their source of income is no longer jeopardized by them turning into a slob. |

If anything if I have kids I'll be there 6 times a week, especially if I end up having a daughter. ![]() It is a twofer. You get the elation of scaring him to death while simultaneously embarrassing her. I highly recommend it! ![]() Actually, it would be a great video montage to play at her wedding while giving her groom the crazy eye! |

Muscles or not, it is much more fun to introduce the lads calling on her to "headcrusher" your favorite baseball bat ![]() |
