I have to say I very much do object to all these sweeping statements and slanderous talk of Audi.

I'm pretty sure if it's written down, it's libel, not slander.

Correct, but that's only when it's an untrue statement or comment

Doesn't matter.
BMW's are still the better cars.

Better than what? Basic BMW's can be, well, pretty basic without a bunch of expensive extras. Who wants to pay 3,000 quid for the M stickers inside and perforated leather on the hand-brake?

I think Audi are closer to the top of the game than almost anyone else, including Mercedes. The one to beat is BMW though i'd agree.

Are BMW's better when their design just sucks? This goes for interior as well as exterior design. However, BMW make great transmissions and engines. But I rather pay in in some performance than to drive in an ugly car.

BTW WTF is up with that sharkfin on BMW's top? Can't they integrade this into the body?

I stand corrected. BMWs are the better driving machines.
There are cars out there that will have more equipment for the money. I'll still get a BMW over a VW any day.

I'd buy the VW for my wife, though. Ba dom pshhhhh!

This is about as accurate as saying Usain Bolt is a slow sprinter.

Audi's design has been extremely boring. It just started to get better.

No, you are twisting my words. I said somethiing about design. When you bring in mr Bolt, you talk about performance.

Get a better answer buddy.

It was an analogy, not a one for one comparison, sorry for not spelling it out for you earlier.
But that's ok, just get yourself an Audi.

@Zoolook:
No need to watch that video because
1) Top Gear is not supposed to be objective
2) mid range bmw vs top of the range golf

If any of you guys had ever driven an M model, you would understand. Not trying to be a d1ck here, but the press and all the reviews are actually right on this one.

No, they're supposed to drool all over the best cars. And on 2, the Golf was cheaper...

I've driven an M3 in Germany when I worked in Frankfurt. Beeeeeeeeautiful car and amazing drive. Can't say it'd be worth the cash in NYC though...

because its serves two/three purposes

purpose 1: gps receiver

purpose 2: GSM receiver.

purpose 3: terrestrial TV antennae

in most cases these need to be external to the vehicle, to allow unhindered reception, but alas most are faux antennae that people plonk of for show.

id rather have the roof spoiler and CSL boot spoiler than the shark fin.

also these Items can be retrofitted which means there's no expensive body panels to buy if it all was integrated and you wanted to purchase one later on down the line, AKA you have a choice to retrofit optional extras at a later date.

also the E46 was never designed with the shark fin, that's from another generation, but as with the majority of bits n bobs they are backward retrofittable.

**** me that's a sweeping statement... also remember bum-lord you also owned an e36 323 the so called archetypal younger/poorer generation of tossers car as you so succinctly put it.

you can always spot a tossers car regardless of marque by the black brake dust stained front wheels and relatively clean paintwork.

thats because he/she has been up so many drivers asses the repeated heavy braking has fouled the wheels.

my next door neighbor is a traffic cop and that's how he spots the would-be serial tailgaters when he pulls em over.

Thanks for the more professional answer.

As an Audi driver I also know that , being on stock HP, I should never challange a BMW.
The other side is the law and design. Thats what we can not much discuss about. I am happy that way. can't discuss taste very much. But whatever side we on, we both know we drive in luxery.

As an Audi driver...

And I don't know what you're on about BMWs and shark fins... Here's for you, Audi man :

I thought it was well established the chap in question had a somewhat 'flexible' relationship with sanity and good sense.

Audi and BMW (and VW) have all made some very interesting and desirable cars but, as with any manufacturer, they have also had issues on some models. From what i've read and heard directly, if they're more than 10 years old you're in line for some expensive bills, sometimes quite a bit earlier, as they definitely seem to be designed with a limited service life.
