I've given it up for good too, the last time I drank I drank way too much, way too quickly.

I came home, vomited, vomited some more..and a little bit more, and then I couldn't even drink water or eat anything without it immediately coming back up x2.

Now I can't even watch tv characters drink without feeling kind of sick.

Never again, not worth it.

Sounds like pretty much a standard weekend for most people in the UK. "im never drinking again arghhh barrfff." 6 days later... Rinse and repeat :D

I don't really drink much anymore, try not to drink more than once per week max. The older i get the more unbearable the hang overs are. If i get pissed now then I feel like I have liver failure for 2 days after. I don't even miss alcohol that much, its not exactly anything special. In fact id rather be sober these days tbh.

Believe me If i was 18 again and could get drunk all the time and wake up fresh as a daisy then things would be different. Now the cons out weight the pros where alcohol is concerned for me :(.

Couple o beers watching the footie once a week is fine. Any more and I feel like I need to ring up the organ donor place for 2 or 3 days after. :D

Should have thought to mention it earlier, as some may know, binge drinking is even more established here than anywhere else - or so it seems.
I've known two who damaged their bodies so badly from alcohol abuse that they were risking death if they did it again as they were so badly compromised. One was a guy just turned twenty and one a girl even younger - I expect there are others I've known but were unaware of.

Yeah, you lot must have the same problem we do. Record numbers of under 30s and even under 25s admitted to hospital for liver disease due to binge drinking.

Most people just get completely smashed when ever they are out and not at work. The amount of money the NHS wastes on fixing binge drinkers bodies must be sickening.

I don't understand what the appeal is with alcohol that you can get into that kind of state with it so fast and so young. I have never really found it addictive or moreish or anything like that. It seems to have quite the opposite effect on some people. They love it and cant stop binging.

I find the side effects of alcohol are probably some of the worst i have ever encountered from any drug what so ever, so much so it just is not worth or enjoyable to become addicted to. lol

Not to mention those hurt, sometimes seriously, from drunken fights and assaults and the unplanned pregnancies, etc.
Then there's the destruction of property, vomit and other bodily fluids that have to be cleaned up by the people resident or working in those areas!

Yeah that is true. Walk into an accident and emergency on a Friday or Saturday night and 75% of the people in there are all drink related incidents.

That must cost the tax payer billions each year. Let alone effect the care of those that really need it.

The hypocrisy is, if alcohol was invented tomorrow then it would be made illegal within about 10 minutes. LOL
The sheer effect on society that alcohol has is unprecedented by any other legal or illegal substance.

It's all about balance. Left up to their own accord, most people have zero ability to ascertain their own tolerance levels for alcohol, and simply drink until they either vomit or pass out. I think most of this has to do with the "weekend warrior" scenario, since many are too wound up due to the horrid 9-5 workweek schedule so many people endure. Just don't replace the booze with junk food which is done by a lot of people. Eat healthily and you'll be right as rain.

I actually eat healthier when i havent had a drink for a while and im willing to prepare good meals and i dont snack at all.

I dont think anyone should eat common snack foods invented by food companys, to sell more shitty food stuffs we shouldnt eat and never used to, but like idiots we think its normal.

Alcohol makes your blood glucose drop, which makes you hungry after drinking. Most people gain weight off of the shitty food they shove down their gullet after a night of boozing, not actually the alcohol itself. Again, self control is key.
