Im really thinking of giving up the booze been a regular drinker for all my life though ive been feeling a bit run down laterly, stopped drinking for a week and was feeling loads better then had a good drink and felt like **** for 2 days.
So i think its time to go T total as cutting down just doesnt work for me, so has anybody here been a big drinker and given up the beer? |

If you feel drowsy, do you get drowsy when eating/drinking anything sweet? I'd go for a free diabetes check at Lloyds Pharmacy just to be certain. ![]() |

Never could stand beer (probably from cleaning bars as a kid for pocket money) but I used to be a spirit drinker and after a while I just couldn't be bothered - to the point where I could pick a drink up, have a mouthful and not feel like it.
I had a fair bit more money, though, and no more feeling seedy in the mornings. It may be worth checking with your doc', though, in case there is an underlying health issue, like mild diabetes, that may be affected by the sugars and other things in the beer/lager/stout. |

Very rarely drink myself now, although rarely I love a pint of cold Guinness.
If I drink more than a pint, I'm really ill the next day, according to what I've researched, those people afflicted with CFS, like myself, are somewhat Intolerant to alcohol. Since the g/f was diagnosed with Crohn's, we both "hammer" the Green tea and drink about 2 litres each per day. The Lemon one is really nice. Just pour boiling water into a pint jug with 2 green tea bags, let it soak until the water is cold and then pour it into a 2 litre bottle and top up with ice cold water, then bung in the fridge. Makes you pee like a Trooper, but its great for cleaning out the system. ![]() |

You don't have to drop it entirely, I don't consider myself teatotal, just don't happen to drink alcohol the last few years and I expect that there will be times I will just feel like a drink and, if it's convenient, will have some.
Then again, I may be like that because my father was an alcoholic (occupational hazard in the hotel trade) and lost the family hotels and shop - and, effectively, his family as we moved to our mother's country following the divorce. |

I haven't given up drinking completely, but I certainly drink way less than I used to. I still go out with the guys almost every week and have a few, but that's about it. If you're looking to lose some weight, cutting back or even giving it up is a good way to start. There are plenty of calories that you won't "miss" in alcohol, as well as soda, juice, etc. With some better eating and exercise, I've managed to lose 25 pounds since February.
![]() ![]() By the way, I'd be concerned that you feel so horrible after drinking. I'd talk to your doctor about it if the amounts you're drinking never affected you in this way in the past. |
