I didn't say they should use apple. I said traditionally they do. That is a fact that cannot be disputed! |

I have yet to see OSX being used in any of the companies I've worked for here in Finland. It's always Windows for workstations and Linux or Windows for servers. Probably due to everybody, their grandparents and kids all being used to Windows. Why force people to learn another operating system when they can start working right away in a familiar environment?

Each OS has its positives and negatives for specific users. It is true that linux users need a strong team of support staff that know it inside out, but the results can be extremely good if done properly. But yeah, without proper support it's difficult to recommend to everyone. At my place (local aviation company) we run SME Server 8.0 servers (CentOS based) that run Apache web, and Samba 3 domain accounts/shares. The desktops are a broad mix of Windows, Macs & Ubuntu, with plenty of Androids & iPads thrown in for good measure. |

Good point. The last place I worked at that touched on film used Avid exclusively for that part of the process. They created overlays on the mac though. --- Post Update --- I have yet to see OSX being used in any of the companies I've worked for here in Finland. OK, OK. I get it. Have you ever worked for a design agency? ![]() So it has to come back to usability then, and... ![]() |

Currently nothing really. Back in the day, when the current generation of designers were learning their craft Adobe Photoshop was miles better on the Mac. A lot of designers nowadays prefer windows machines because they can be configured faster and much cheaper than the apple counterparts. My brother is doing a digital art degree which includes art, design and 3D. Every idiot in the class is rushing out to buy macs because some equally idiotic lecturer is claiming that they are significantly better to use Photoshop with and to design on. I like macs and appreciate them but these idiots think they are instantly going to become superb graphic designers just cos they just plonked 2000 euros on a macbook. |

Problem is this previous history has stuck with Apple and now that they are on x86 that edge is gone. Now it is really based on preference and if your app only supports OSX or windows. |

This reminds me of something I've been wanting to post for a while. - no flash. |

Ah yes, how could I forget... If you need it, fair enough. But including something for the sake of it is no benefit to anyone. The only (and I do mean only) time I have wanted flash is to watch something on megavideo. |

Think about it though...For what you use your iPad for, when has that ever been a problem? |
