But there are some medical benefits, no? Circumcision has shown to reduce the transferring of some STDs and AIDS from male to female due to bacteria and viruses having a tendency to be caught in the foreskin. |

But there are some medical benefits, no? Circumcision has shown to reduce the transferring of some STDs and AIDS from male to female due to bacteria and viruses having a tendency to be caught in the foreskin. And yeah, it DOES reduce the chance of getting AIDS. But the real solution is to use condoms and not sleep with people who have AIDS. The difference between cut and uncut is like one less bullet in the chamber when playing Russian roulette. It's a really stupid idea no matter how you look at it. As a man who had it done as an adult for medical reasons (I blame my GF) do NOT do this to your children. I have a much higher opinion of my mother for not making that choice for me. No matter how you slice it (pun intended) it's mutilation, and it's wrong. My wang, not yours! /thread |

As usual, Rainwind makes a whole lot of sense. Just like female circumcision, the practice of male circumcision is fueled much more by myths than facts.
It should be a choice. I am not mad that choice was made for me, but my boys will be able to choose for themselves when they are adults. It's actually a fairly rare practice is Switzerland (and Europe in general) as well, so you're in a small minority here if you're cut. |

A. The article never mentions female circumcision.
B. WTF is wrong with male circumcision? Is it only turtle guys who are outraged by this? I'm a helmet guy and I cannot think of any reason I should be mad at my parents. It doesn't make your dick smaller, and you don't get cheese that turns girls off due to the smell. In fact girls always comment to me about how they like the look compared to turtles ![]() |

A. The article never mentions female circumcision. Nothing wrong with adults doing it at their own free will, especially in Africa where it can help the quell the transmission of AIDS because thanks mostly to the Catholic church no one uses condoms. |

I've found that regular washing also helps to prevent that. And for anyone who says you don't lose sensitivity well if you can have your tip rub against clothing all day long and I/we can't stand it for more than a few seconds then clearly there is quite a big difference. If we allowed religions to practice whatever they wanted people would still be put to death for adultery in western civilisation. Any belief/practice that infringes on another persons rights should not be allowed, it's that simple imo. |

I can't believe anyone here would DEFEND male circumcision of babies. All major medical organizations are AGAINST it.
Male circumcision should only be done in cases of a medical problem. It is mutilation in any other way. Wearing a condom protects from aids 100x more than have part of your dick hacked off and smegma isn't any issue if you BATHE REGULARLY, which maybe some FM members don't. Point is, there is literally NO reason to do it children and the USA is really the only country that does it automatically. It is a SICK practice and needs to stop. |
