First Prometheus Review Online - AvPGalaxy

Update 29/5/12: Many more French reviews have come out. You can find a complete list in this thread which is continually being updated

'A press screening for Prometheus happened in France just hours ago. Reactions are slowly coming in from Twitter. Opinions are decisively mixed. Some seem to love it and some don’t like it all. The first French review is online over on Ecran Large who scored it 4/5. I used Google Translate but it’s still a bit of a minefield trying to decipher it. They praised Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender but the rest of the characters are kinda boring which they say is a problem with the script. They tried to do too much in a short space of time. But there are a lot of positives. They call the film a true piece of art. Expect more French reviews to come out very soon.'

Anticipate more meticulous/detail oriented english reviews by Empire magazine or Total Film.. imminent!.

Humorous quotes by forum users on empireonline.com -

Expected!
''One of the greatest science fiction films since Blade Runner. PROMETHEUS is a collossus achievement...'' ***** 5/5 (hopefully i''ve taken the correct glimpse into the future!

Unexpected!
"...the biggest cinematic disappointment since The Phantom Menace.."

I'm already watching Alien - Directors Cut, Aliens - Special Edition, Alien3 - Assembly Cut just to refresh my mind in the Alien universe. Next year I'll do the same before Aliens - Colonial Marines arrives, and if Prometheus is good that too. These movies look amazing in Blu-Ray.

That said I'm sure there won't be too many references to Alien in Prometheus, but just in case I am ready to go!

First Official ‘Prometheus’ Reviews Emerge Online -

ALERT SPOILERS!!
Links -

http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117947665?refcatid=31

http://screenrant.com/prometheus-rev...s-kofi-175530/

General Synopsis of reviews -

In case you have a hard time wrapping your head around all that, here is a SPOILER-FREE breakdown of the overall impression:

Prometheus is visually impressive.
It’s louder and more “busy” than Alien‘s quiet, stripped-down aesthetic.
The actors do a fair job in their roles.
Michael Fassbender’s David and Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw are standouts (surprise).
The script makes you think (a little bit) but leaves a lot open for a sequel to resolve.

Questions about the sheer level of tension and/or terror, or the specific connections (or lack thereof) to Alien remain just that… questions. On the whole it would seem (at least from this review) that Prometheus is neither a big disappointment nor a rousing success for Ridley Scott – instead it is something different (worse?): A middle of the road movie experience.
One really respected critic reviewer I'm familiar with sounds highly impressive in any case -

"I just saw ‪#Prometheus‬ last night -- it was AWESOME," posted Alex Billington from FirstShowing.net. "Loved it. Truly breathtaking, incredible, spectacular, thrilling sci-fi at its best."

It's rubbish, don't bother, especially the very last scene where they tell you the Aliens are genetically engineered by ancient humans. (

Is that it? The great shocker? They tell you that in the Alien novels.

Also for possible future film spoilers.

The Earth has been over run by Aliens.

Remnants of humanity is scattered to the stars, and we have a moon base where secret experiments are conducted in order to try and control Aliens. Apparently there are positive results in taming the Aliens.

Interestingly some humans are still alive on Earth as fanatics, worshipping the Aliens, sacrifices etc... bizarrely the Aliens are complacent with these crazies living on Earth and don't eat them all.

A human has nightmares, apparently the Queen of Queens Alien exists and is communicating to her.

A daring plan is formed by a rag tag band of humans and Ripley (yea I can't remember how she's alive again) to find the Queen of Queens, capture it, bring it to Earth to a preset location where there were undetonated nukes.

99% of Earth aliens swarm to see the mommy of moms (apparently this momma is massive!)

Nukes go boom, Earth can be cleaned up of the remaining Aliens.

Oh and the nutcase running the moon base conducting the experiments? It turns out the aliens were just playing him, you can't control those beasts.

Forward some years, Aliens are still on Earth, we harvest their nests for the Jelly from the eggs.

I'm sure I've missed out some interesting bits.

I fecking loved those novels/comics. FYI, Ripley was an android or alive in Female war depend on what version you read. Originally; Earth War, Nightmare Asylum and Female war was written prior to Alien 3 as a follow up to Aliens, newt, hicks and Ripley all being alive. Fox screwed it up with Alien 3 release/story and the orginals were considered not canonical and thus the comics had to be rewritten to happen AFTER alien 3 and Ripley became an android, newt and hicks renamed to Billie and Wilks.
