Default Good deal on this TV?
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/panason...33668-pdt.html

Anyone got anything bad to say about this? I'm completely out of touch with TV's these days. It needs to be wall mounted and have ethernet and USB.

It's a great deal as it's end of the line. It's to go in my kitchen so doesn't need to be top spec and it's not much more than the 32" one I was going for. Seems like a no brainer really

I know one of the reviewers on this site and they have glowing things to say about that model.

I seem to spend more time in there than the lounge. Especially when friends are round.

--- Post Update ---

Well the nearest store with any in stock is miles away. Anyone know anything about the Sony EX410 42 Inch Full HD 1080p Freeview LED TV? I can't find any reviews online.

I don't know, but I am sure I read somewhere that Sony now do budget TV's that are actually just crap? I notice that one does not have Freeview HD or internet functions.

I didn't think having internet functions built into your TV was really needed but now I have it, its pretty awesome. Being able to stream from a USB HDD that's plugged into my router is pretty damn good

Hmmm how about this?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-KDL40EX...g_bs_560864_12

Seems to get a decent review here when it was priced between £900 to £1000

Sony's TV division has been going downhill for a bit now, but particularly after they left their joint venture with Samsung for panels.

Their TVs aren't bad but you can definitely get better and more reasonably priced TVs from Samsung or Panasonic nowadays.

Yeh but it seems a good price for the Sony here and seems to be one of their TV's that is not crap. The closest I can find from Samsung is this - there does not seem to be a review of it anywhere that I can see, only some people complaining it does not have wifi built in and does not have iPlayer (seems it does have iPlayer now).

I recently obtained the LG 42LM620T and I highly recommend it, however I do not think its what DM is looking for price wise.

This is probably more suitable. But again not really any reviews other than user reviews

Have you found a review of that Sony? I'm really not looking for advanced features as it will be connected to Tivo. Going even cheaper, any thoughts on these?

My local Curry's has the TV in stock. I can buy it and get a courier to take it to yours?

The Panny plasma I mean.

Ah, my bad. I thought you were joking about it being more expensive to courier it from down there to up here than buying a full price one.

Thanks for the offer, but there are stores within 20 miles that have it. It is a tempting deal on a Panny, and I'm off Friday. I might have to drive down to Stockport for it.

I'd recommend going for the Panasonic. You will get great motion resolution, no need for MCFI, perfect panel uniformity, excellent viewing angles, and great black levels.

I know you're right, but I'm not sure if I want to spend 3 hours of a day off driving to get a TV for the kitchen when the Samsung will be OK.

Bit of background - my kitchen gets light all day so it's not like the screen is going to look its best anyway apart from late at night. If I'm watching TV in the kitchen I'll be drunk and then I can't see it anyway

Ah, I must have skipped over the part when you mentioned you had to drive a bit to pick one up. Also, if your kitchen gets a lot of light, go for an LCD. (Preferably with a matte screen)

My local store had some in stock on Saturday, but they are end of line (hence the deal) and they don't have any now.

Incidentally - Pro Logic IIz.... why can't it be better?

That is just the tech for you. Pro Logic and all its variants are just matrixed version of surround sound vs. discrete. However, if you have a good Dolby Digital 5.1 source audio track and the system is setup properly with correct speaker placement for the height channels it can be quite good. (Basically just relying on it to upmix the already discrete 5.1 audio.)

If you are going from 2 channel source material up to surround though, it leaves a lot to be desired.

HD channels in the UK are Dolby Digital for a lot of programs, but generally the best I get is Pro II (my receiver does the z mode). It's too easy to tell the difference sadly.
