Like a few people here I don't know Alaskan personally and I can't begin to imagine what he must have been going through but I wish him a speedy recovery. Things like what DKM and a few others did remind me why I come to futuremark forums every day.

Hats of to you guys!

You guys are freaking awesome. When alaskan sees this thread, I think it will give him hope that people care.

Dropkick should get an "Unstoppable Life Saver" title under his name. So should Freeelancer.

Thank god. You are a hero man!
Hero.

Thanks so much dude.
He's the hero!?

Screw that, me and Freelancer were the people who originally called it in

Phew, good stuff dkm!

And seriously EaG and Dolemfist.
Really uncool... These days the most untolerant people are you, not the "believers". If Xeo thinks praying helps let him pray. No need to ridicule or bash him over it.

I agree with you but seriously you guys need to sometimes stfu...
You need to STFU.

Me and Freelancer were the ones who called the police first. We intervened. Not god.

Glad to hear that he was gotten to in time. Thanks for following it up dkm. I'm glad to see the community work together when it counts. Props gentlemen.

It doesn't matter who called where, all that is important is that they got to him in time. Which they did.

Alaskan, when you recover and read this, I want you to know that there are people out there that care about you man. People from all over the world. Seriously look at this thread. We all care about you.

Whatever it was that made you want to end it all, you have to remember the cliche: It is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. As shitty as the world gets and as hopeless as things can seem right now, they WILL get better. In the future, consider doing something completely different. Go skydiving, move to Hawaii, go bear hunting in Alaska, or blow all your money on hookers and weed as has been suggested previously. Just do whatever it is that you need to do to deal with the problem in a manner that doesn't deprive the world of your presence.

About going on medications, I work every day with people who take medications for depression and anxiety issues, and have at least three friends that take them. Yes, some of the side effects can suck. But honestly, weigh your options. Would you rather occasionally have dizzy spells / be sick to your stomach / etc., or; would your rather feel so horrible and hopeless that you want to swallow a whole bottle of pills?
And there are so many drugs out there, that you can almost pick your side effect, if that makes sense. If you're overweight, go with the side effect that you lose your appetite. If you're underweight, go with the side effect that makes you hungry all the time. You can actually make the side effects work for you! No joke. I see it every day. But don't listen to me, talk to a doctor about it and get some real information. Medication helps. It isn't cowardice, it isn't weakness, it is strength. The Master Chief went through hormone therapy and gene therapy and took drugs to control his moods, and it made him the ****ing Master Chief. Also the bionic enhancements, but if you stick around long enough you could get those too!

To the rest of you guys in this thread: Despite all your character flaws and conflicts, you guys managed to come together and save a life when it really mattered. It brought a tear to my eye, no joke. Know that I consider you all to be heroes. The real life kind.

Don't feel too embarrassed about posting on these forums again. I always thought you were one of the more interesting people here and it would be a shame not to have you back here again.

Are you saying that somebody who attempted suicide may have wanted to die?

Get out of town!

Yes....but that doesn't mean his family or friends want him too. It may have been a cry for help or attention.....

Has it occurred to you that he wouldn't of made a cry for help here had he no second thoughts?

Pretty big deal ending your own life.... though Josh does suffer tremendously. It is not simply depression.

Perhaps this thread should lock up?

Golem. I didn't do anything to help, but thank you. I cant even stomach talking to his mother for long at this point. My heart is much too tender for this BS. I understand your hostility, but had they replied with a thank you on top of that prayer; would you of been as brash? Is rivalry appropriate and necc for this discussion?

I thought it was pretty clear that freelancer and EAG called the cops initially. If I hear anything I will post it, but I am not going to contact them again for a few days.
