Default Any other movies like "Contact"?
Contact (1997) is one of my favourite movies, and I'm wondering if there are similar movies out there.

Yep, but it's not really like Contact. Sphere was a horror-ish film, I want something epic and subtle like Contact.

I'm not aware of any other movies like it to be honest. I also really liked Contact, I thought it was a great movie

Wow, a 'Contact' appreciation thread!

I utterly loved this film, then suggested it to a bunch of friends and they practically came after me with pitch forks and lamps while I slept!

Great idea, sure the 'father' bit is a bit cheesy, but who cares, the film on the whole made me feel all cosy and warm.

Agreed with all of the above. And I can't really think of anything like it either.

"Why build one, when you can build two for twice the price...".

I loved contact, thought it was a great movie.

The Sphere doesn't come close to the book in terms of a good story. The book was way better.

I´m surprised that so many people here enjoyed the movie
(especially considering the common (crappy) movie taste around here)
I can´t really think of any "simular" movies like contact at the moment,
but for some reason K-pax falls to mind. (awesome movie)

To paraphrase southpark. "I waited the whole damn 3 hours to see the alien and it was her father?"

I hope they never make another movie like contact.

I would recommend that movie as well. IMDB link: Phenomenon (1996)

Contact has to be one of the worst movies i have ever seen in my entire life, the first part of it where they're building the wormhole and everything is absolutely fine, the part where she goes through it is just the biggest let down and anti-climax ever.

I was going to recommend these 3 movies including the Solaris remake but if anyone has a short attention span then I wouldn't recommend it to them [thumbdown]

2001 has a similar scene to Contact which is the space traveling sequence as shown in my signature but it's more like a psychedelic trip, "My God, it's full of stars"
