How many races can Lotus tactics really ruin

edit: Or is lotus right? Do Maldonado & Alonso have to stop once more?
If Maldonado holds Alonso up any more then Alonso's tyres might be a bit too close.

Don't discount the Lotus-Renault yet, Alonso and Maldonado will slow up a lot as their tyres wear. But yes Renault did stuff up the tyre choice

Great drive from Kobayashi too, he is indeed the most ballsy overtaker!

Oh bugger, 1 lap longer race and Räikkönen would have passed Alonso, 2 laps longer and he would have passed Maldonado

Rubbish, it's one thing catching up, it's completely another thing actually passing.

To be honest I never thought Maldonado would do it, but he proved me wrong. Nice win, and another race winner this year! And people complain about tyres.... F1 is exciting now, no longer a parade.

It's not when the other guys tires are 2 seconds slower per lap, just like everyone flew past Räikkönen when his tires "fell off the cliff" few races ago

You could argue that their tyres were perfectly managed.

I think Kimi will be happy though, Lotus-Renault have the pace to give him a championship this year. And the car is also the most flexible imo. it is fast in straight line, but still has good mechanical grip for slow circuits. Monaco is on the cards for them, only Webber who is brilliant at Monaco stands in the way perhaps.

After all this criticising of the tires seems that today Maldonado showed us that it can be done. He did what ? 26 laps on that set ? Maybe its not as bad as we think.

Though his tires had fallen off the cliff already towards the end, Kimi was catching him & Alonso 1-2 sec a lap for the last 12-14 laps or so.
Kimi also did quite long stint on the softs, his 2nd stint was about as long as maldonados and alonsos 2nd stints, the only difference being alonso & maldonado had hard tires, while kimi had softs

Yes, tyres were 4 laps older yet Alonso's went off first.
Very impressive drive and a nice, slighly belated, 70th birthday present for Sir Frank .
Some strong performances further down the field as well, as some of the top drivers had to recover from problems earlier in the race.

So Bruno Senna's car went up in flames, during his team mates celebration, where was Bruno at the time

Hopefully the guys are okay and the injury is not serious.

Li-ion batteries aren't as dangerous as Li-po, but they are still dangerous!
