Even with that dodgy French bloke voice recognition works well

--- Post Update ---

With all this "smart" stuff that wakes the phone and keeps it awake with the proximity sensor and front camera, I wonder about the battery

Absolutely dissapointed. Pentile display and a design that does not really stand out. HTC One X looks miles better. Samsung have screwed it up big time.

TouchWiz actually looks... good Popout play is very nice.

It doesn't stand out in terms of looks; looks very Nexus-like, but its features are pretty spiffy. Still not sure about battery life.

Pentile, GG WP.
I got pentile in my droid 3. While the screen is OK, and while it doesn't bother me, it shouldn't be in a flagship like the S3

Somewhat dissapointing release. Quad-cores are already here. Android 4.04 is old news. 8mpix camera, lol? Some neat gestures.

I was anticipating this to be a Galaxy Nexus destroyer. Nice phone, but can't help to be somewhat disappointed.

Not bothered about Pentile, I've played with the Note quite allot and thought the display was gorgeous.

Camera looks very good, lots of features, fast shutter time and HDR mode, also able to take pictures while recording video like the HTC One.

Removable battery and SD Card slot unlike the HTC One

I really like the design also, just waiting for some reviews now and user feedback to see if these new features actually work and how the performance compares.

Why pentile ? Maybe its got supremely high pixel density but it cant be much higher than the OneX is. Im guessing it will be good for pentile but will not be as good as the OneX or even the iphone 4s.

Exynos quad should fly though, id be surprised if it isnt faster than Tegra 3.

It's going to come back to the OLED vs LCD argument again, I'll take OLED every time, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages imo.

Also 3.5" is just too small, being the wrong screen ratio for media also doesn’t help the iPhone.

Either way you look at it, there is no real behemoth of an Android phone with all the major features. However, competition is great. I think a couple of minor changes and the S3 would have really been a bullet. Touchwiz does actually look like a major benefit compared to AOSP. In fact, it may well make AOSP look dated and unremarkable.

I'm concerned about HTC's reputation for faulty phones and repairs. Also the lack of OLED screen is a turn off, but it does have some of the best specs otherwise...

With the newer LCDs like on the 4S and the OneX i really dont see any disadvantages anymore compared to OLED. Normally contrast ratio, but the newer LCDs are truely awesome if you put a OneX in your hands it set the new benchmark for display quality even black levels are insanely good. Viewing angle is incredible as good than any OLED ive seen.
Maybe OLED has better battery life but im not sure about that. The best OLED ive seen was the 8" Sony prototyple at a Sony fair but no retail OLED display has reached that level yet.

My biggest issue with with the current OLEDs is the color balance, the Galaxy series especially, and to a minor extent the PSVita as well but its a lot better than any of the Samsung phones screens color balance.

I could notice the pentile pixel haze on the devices ive used, pair that with the wierd color balance i wasnt a huge fan of most of the current gen OLEDs. There will surely be a Super AMOLED PLUS version of this screen later, that will be the one to have.

I expect S3 to raise the bar here, but i just cant see it with pentile being the best screen available for it.

Latest IPS displays are very good but they still don't compare the contrast and viewing angles of OLED displays, just put them side by side and all becomes clear.

I also feel the colours are more accurate/vibrant on the Notes display I've used and really stand out, The HTC One X seemed to have a yellow tint to the screen, hard to describe but it just wasn’t the same. Very good for a LCD display but not for me.

Everybody will have their own preference here though.
