Oh. I've never had any of the problems you have. Well, good luck with the car. It looks pretty cool.
Thanks, you'll maybe know what I mean if you ever visit Scotland

Please do not Barry it. Don't worry it's mostly just stuff to tidy it up I'm wanting to do, one of the windscreen wipers for example has some rust on it, not sure if the stuff I've found online actually replaces that or just the wiper, I want the arm part as well.

I had a welder workmate who drove one of those - an LTD version with 6 speed g/box, BBS alloy wheels, uprated suspension with Recaro bucket seats - he had been a hairdresser when he was younger but, with 5 kids, I don't see that as meaning much.
At one stage I asked him what he wanted for it but he wouldn't sell as he didn't see what could offer the same amount of fun for anything like the price! That's good to hear ...I've not really had a chance to drive it yet as I need parking permit+insurance, but I'm looking forward to it that's for sure!

--- Post Update ---

Also forgot to add, the guy works for Rockstar North (10mins away from my house), he's currently working on the new GTA

To Tidy, the OP.

Buy good tires, and auto-x that car in stock trim. I get the urge for a MX-5 every once in a while, same urge usually leads me to look at Porsche 944's too.

lightweight track rat and auto-x toy that can pretty much be run in stock trim with no mods whatsoever.

Hey Fruity, was waiting on you to post since I know you're one of the big car nuts on FM! The car has got 2 new tires on it at the front, and the rear have low mileage on them (not sure what tires either are atm though). I have no idea what auto-x is?

Auto-X is basically driving around cones in a car park and recording a time

Well, that's the American name and version where you're going a lot faster and they've got the large areas to allow it.
In the UK they're called autotests and here motokhanas - you'd barely get out of first gear on these and they're a lot tighter.

I've done something similar to the US version, but on a field so it was sort of like an autocrass as well - mostly I've done the motokhana thing and I must say they're a lot of fun - if you get serious, you'd be well advised to get a spare set of tyres/wheels, though, even though sliding is usually slower..

There are heaps of vid's on Youtube, if you want to have a look.

TS, assuming you never have to drag around more than 1 person, and aren't over 6ft tall, then that car would do well for a daily driver.

Draw backs would be limited cargo space, 2 people seating.

Good points would be excellent fuel economy for a sporty car. Easy parking due to small size too. I test drove one years ago. It was lacking in power, and the test drive didn't allow me to really drive the car the way it was meant to be driven. It was mostly straight roads, nothing that would stress handling or braking. Still, I know what the cars were made for and they are fun to drive and VERY competative in Auto-X/Gymkhana/...../ whatever else you wanna do with them track wise.

A Civic SI hatch or "Type R" would probably be just as fun too with more cargo capacity and people room.

*Yes, I have nothing against imports. Ricers (Boy racers) have ruined what those cars were built to be. Small, Light, and fun cars that you can live with as your only car.

I went with my G6 because it was larger and offered more room. Still only seats room but the seats go back far enough that I can't even reach the pedals and there is still room for an adult to in the rear seat behind me like that. Has a massive truck, though the opening is small.

They should be awesome on the track. Just needs loads more power.

Have you been looking into charging it?

I can't help respecting them for having a go at something, regardless of what people think. On the other hand, someone is going to hell.

In the 'States you can buy kits to convert them to V8 power
BBR in the UK used to do a well respocted turbo' kit for them, don't know of any others.
Whatever one does, one has to be carefull not to stuff up it's handling, which is it's strong suite. I'd probably look at some good dampers and tyres (maybe rims as well) without going too wide or low profile - a may of 205 and 50 series, perhaps?

i'd get some miles under your belt before even considering a performance upgrade in a rear wheel drive car. I found mysef travelling backwards quite a bit in my first.

I've never really had issues with roll back on hills. Mostly because I'll toe/heel the brake and throttle, while working the clutch with the left.

Most times I'm not on a hill where i have to worry about this though and the car pretty much won't move in neutral.

Nah I meant losing the arse end through driving like a moron in the wet.

I had a couple of years experience when I got my mildly tuned mx5 and I had a few occasions of the arse end stepping out. Though once mastered it was amazing fun.

But at stock it shouldn't be very unpredictable as it has no power and is N/A.

Turbocharged ~400HP car + wet = suicide

Uh, it's called 'driving round corners at very high speeds', especially if it tightens and one has to back off*, or they're tight enough to be using the lower gears - excess power will also cause issues, but it isn't always required...

in my youth, there was one corner on my favourite road that always required a swift half turn of opposite lock in the Mini...

A lot of guys on our Evolution forums own Miatas as secondary cars for autocross. They take a lot of heat from the other users for having them, but they really do seem to enjoy them.
