There are a lot of Athletes I have respect for, but thinking about it, I really can't narrow any one athlete down to being my favorite.

Ayrton Senna
I just watched the film "Senna" on Netflix. He was a hero of mine, loved the competition between him and Frost and even Mansell for a short while.

Sometimes the athletic hero fades when you see what they're like after they leave their sport (Lance Armstrong, Seb Coe etc). So I'll stick to my home town hero, Gary Lineker.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Lineker

Not only a perfect gentleman on the pitch, but still a perfect ambassador for the sport in an age of greed and self-absorption.

Dennis Bergkamp or I'd have to agree with Gary Lineker if it was just from my own country.

No, Nascar only requires a case of beer and an entire day to sit around.

I'm much more of a hockey fan than anything else, but I don't think anyone was ever more clutch and fun to watch than Michael. He's the only reason I watched basketball in the 90s.
