The £650 tent is no more.
Whilst camping half way up a mountain called Canisp, to get a sunset shot of Suilven (the mountain I'm making a film about), we got battered by a freak storm. The tent, despite it's evident manufacturing quality did not survive the gusts of up to 100mph. The poles snapped and the entire thing took off over the hill. I got blown off my feet (literally) and thrown down an embankment causing me to sprain my ankle badly.
Long story short - had to hike 4 miles back down the mountain in the dark in a storm with a f**ked foot and a 30kg pack on my back. Scariest night of my life. Made it to tell the tale though, thought you might all enjoy the update. On a plus note we got some absolutely outstanding footage and the insurance company that takes care of my business is replacing the tent next week. You can't say I don't suffer for my art. |
So basically it doesn't perform any better than a £100 tent.

Well, that's unfortunate, but man, how you explained it made me LOL. Still, it's an experience. Just not the one you were after.

This is literally the last time I loan you anything. You probably didn't even bat an eyelid. Do you have any idea of the development costs? Emmentaler doesn't grow on ****ing trees. Can't wait to see the footage. That blog you did in the states was a great read. |
