Apparently he objected to the fact I was not using the inside lane. I pointed out it was full of trucks, and that it would be rather dangerous to be weaving in and out of them every 5 seconds.

He then proceeded to agree with me, made a general comment about using the inside lane when able, shook my hand and let me go.... [rofl]

You should watch Wegmisbruikers, then switch to a random British version of the same program. Our police are apparently instructed to be as nice as possible, feel terrible remorse over writing you a ticket, and wishing they didn't have to do it. I personally much prefer the strict "you were doing this wrong, it's dangerous for so and so reasons, we don't want to see that behavior so stop it and pay the fine you idiot" approach.
